Why is every seinen I'm reading just weird toxic yaoi that could have ended easily if the protagonist and antagonist fucked and killed each other (at the same time) on the first page

FFXIV Write 2024 - Prompt 01 - Steer
Words | 682 ——————–
“Faster!”
She could imagine it, the bite of wind at her cheeks and ears, the cold at her toes. The sound of snow crunching underneath as she paved her way through it, molding the terrain to her command like she was a god. A god rushing down a smooth, untouched hill on a sleekly polished sled. Her knuckles ached from squeezing the rim of it, her elbows. A bumpy ride regardless, she hit roots and stones. Almost tipped each time.
Almost.
I just got a horrible idea

It was their day off. A day off would always be superior to those at the force in Nines’ evaluation. A few years ago, he would have laughed if someone told him he would enjoy something completely unrelated to work. Now he stood in the kitchen, drying his hands from doing the dishes. He had cooked for Gavin, simply because he wanted to surprise him and now his human laid on their couch, back propped up against the armrest, scrolling through some tablet, reading. Nines hung up the towel and leaned against the doorframe arms crossed just to watch him fondly. ‘What?’, Gavin asked after a while. ‘What are you smiling for, hm?’ ‘Oh, nothing, just enjoying the view. How did you know?’ I can sense when people look at me’, Gavin said mischievously as he looked over his shoulder at Nines. Then he let the tablet sink to his chest and stretched his arms above his head to let them hang over the armrest. He contorted his head to look at him without turning around and opened and closed his hands in a grabbing gesture.
Nines huffed out a chuckle and let his arms fall to walk over in between Gavin’s arms. The man’s head rested against his abdomen in this weird backwards hug and Nines leaned forwards, resting his hands on his chest. The man hummed pleased with the whole situation and in a sudden flash of his evil nature, Nines snatched the tablet from Gavin and stepped back, so the human’s hands brushed along his hips. Gavin whined in exaggerated hurt as Nines just smiled and walked around the room, theatrically reading aloud what was written on the screen: ‘The murder-scene was gruesome and Detective Smith just shook her head at the display of violence, her ponytail flicking-‘ ‘Stop! Goddamnit, Nines, give it back!’ Nines laughed at the failed attempt to grab him by his knees and pry the tablet from his fingers. All it did was scroll a bit past the passage Nines had been reading. It didn’t matter to him. He just wanted to annoy Gavin a bit. And he did, continuing his exaggerated performance: ‘She whirled around, pointing her gun fiercely at the [insert description criminal]-‘ Nines frowned at the edit note and looked into Gavin’s pained face. ‘Gavin! You never told me you were writing a book!’ ‘I am not’, Gavin whined. ‘Now give it back!’ ‘Of course you aren’t’, Nines laughed, preparing to cite another passage. ‘No, stop! It’s from Tina, okay? She tried writing and… And I may have agreed helping her with proof-reading.’
Nines laughed and laid the tablet on their coffee table. ‘Okay, I believe you for once.’ ‘Then give it back!’ ‘Never!’ ‘Why?’ ‘Because,’ Nines smirked at him, leaning over him and scooping the unprepared man up bridal style. ‘Because it’s our day off and I demand cuddles from my amazing human.’ Gavin had reflexively clawed at the fabric of Nines’ clothes and now patted them down again, blushing. ‘Ah, shit you are sappy again, aren’t you?’ ‘Not at all. Who’s my tiny human, hmm?’ ‘Oh god, please, stop!’ ‘Who is my precious, complex organic, hmm?’ ‘Nines, I am neither a cat, nor a baby, let me down for phck’s sake!’, Gavin shouted, struggling against the grip only for it to fasten even more and Nines pressing him closer and burying his face in his belly. ‘GOD PHCKING DAMNIT, let me go you useless machine!’, Gavin wanted to scream in anger but couldn’t hide his laughter at the silliness of it all. ‘Did you catch a virus during the last months?’ ‘Maybe’, Nines whispered, pressing kisses to Gavin’s forehead. ‘But then it’s a good one.’ ‘Oh phck, okay, okay. Bedroom. Cuddles. Now!’

Finally catching up on last weeks full episode (I only managed to watch Robrons scenes so far).
And despite me not being a Kev-fan at all - there was one fun joke in there, that I could get behind: "You call yourself a barrister" "You take that back, I would never work for a court of law"
Sorry, but it was really good
Still, I'm not a big fan of him...
how do you cope with being alive and having Responsibility
