i still stand by the fact that garrus 1) learns the most , 2) grows the most , and 3) becomes the best version of himself only if you prevent him from killing sidonis . he’s forced to swallow down every mote of anger , fully process the events on omega , recognize his own fault in the chaos that unfolded ( as i still believe his choice to go to omega in the first place was motivated by the selfish need to prove himself ) , and just makes him flourish further as a character and as a person . it’s so BORING to let him kill sidonis . it’s stagnant and colorless . he wants something , he gets it . there’s no challenge . there’s no impetus to make him CHANGE , no friction to force him under pressure . he finds harkin , he finds sidonis , and boom , done , killed , loyalty secured . instead , make garrus learn something . make him come to terms with what he’s feeling . make him feel the rawness of his suffering . it’s only under the most difficult , unbearable circumstances that characters change and learn the hardest lessons . stare him down in the scope and make garrus fumble over two lost years on omega , the loss of his squad , the loss of shepard , the citadel destruction , the utter uselessness he feels , and MAKE HIM CHANGE because of it .
