The answer there is whether or not he ends up a totally failed manipulator which we don't know yet.

I'm also not leaning towards Jigsaw level. I'm just saying that he is using people and thinks he's smart and knows more than they do and that he can shape them into doing what he wants.

Which... I think he does.

I am also just not convinced that Mew is the one who's gonna end up totally heartbroken. He's been warned about Top. He's decided to go into this using and withholding sex.

It's also the different between how he goes into this and what happens when things get more messy.

There's a definite difference between 'the innocent romantic boy boy got caught up in shenanigans' and 'the manipulative boy who was using his sex/lack of sex to manipulate the people around him gets caught up in his own shenanigans'. Those are very different plot lines.

Mew thinking that he knows better than Top and Boston and Ray and knows the best and can shape them to be the version of themselves he thinks is best and he wants so he can live the life he wants is very different than him being a totally innocent virgin who just thinks he can fix Top by not giving him dick.

It's not about embarrassing him, it's about his motives and the people around him and their reactions as they learn more about him and his reaction as he realizes more about the game he's playing and the complications inherent in trying to plan and manipulate people.

Mew using Ray's love for him in order to manipulate him into helping them and staying in their friend group and then, possibly, to make Top jealous is very different from Mew having no idea Ray is in love with him and just constantly hurting him by accident. Those are two extremely different situations.

Just like Mew deciding not to sleep with Top because he thinks Top leaves people because they're easy fucks and boring is different than Mew choosing not to have sex with him because he wants to prove he can keep Tops and is doing it by deliberately dangling sex in front of him again and again until he thinks he's got him hooked. They're different in intent and motive and that what makes him so interesting!

Nick is the epitome of someone in over his head in terms of sex and love with Boston. He doesn't know what he's getting himself into and he might have wanted sex with Boston but the rest of this is out of his control. He is caught up and he is riding a wave and his crash is gonna shatter him and us.

But Mew? Mew knows about Top. The question is how much more does he know, how much more does he control and how much more that matters.
