4th Reboot Comic in the Magazine #257
Previous: First, Second, Third
Not much to say about this cover other than I'm happy that Musa and Tecna are on it. (Yay for Tecna making it unto a cover that doesn't consist of the entire group!) Obviously they're only in the background because Bloom and Stella have to be front and centre, of course, but hey, I take what I can get.
This comic personally offends me tbh. It continues the same pattern of the last one, removing all of the actually interesting parts of the episode to only leave the ""important"" bits which in this case means all the Damien stuff and the stupid part of the plot in this episode. Isn't it great how we get more material about this random new male character than any of the other Winx besides Bloom at this point in the comics? Really makes me miss the retrostyle comics even more, at least there it was all about the Winx...
Speaking of irrelevant characters, the specialists (you know, the actually supposedly important male characters, those guys) get a single panel without any kind of introduction or dialogue. Including Robin, our new female specialist! Only Sky gets a few additional panels and two lines of dialogue but also zero introduction and Bloom is just into him now for some reason and acts like she knows him. (Lol at Stella having to tell Bloom to focus instead of staring at the boys. Reminds me of Stella and Musa in the Winx Power Show.) The same goes for Damien btw, he also gets zero introduction. So is this supposed to be a separate canon to the series or is it relying on knowledge from the series to understand the story? Because right now it's doing neither to any functional degree.
On the more positive side, we get another transformation panel which is a little less cool than the previous one with no unique backgrounds or anything, but still puts in the effort of putting all of the Winx in their final transformation poses which is neat. We also have Flora basically going "Fuck you" to rescuing Damien (until Bloom stops her, sadly) because she has a trophy to get to. That's the right attitude! Sky's not-really introduction also means that there's no mention of Diaspro yet so we could treat this as Bloom and Co. not knowing that he's already in a relationship and not encouraging cheating for the time being? Yay. I do genuinely like that last-panel interaction from Aisha and Flora. It looks like Aisha congratulating her on passing the test and looks really sweet. I also like how Musa and Tecna are standing together on the other side, joint as they are in getting absolutely nothing to do in this comic.
Honestly, I'm not even mad that I only found most of these in poor quality because I really don't care for this comic. (Kinda dreading the concert episode comic now...)
