Airi’s Saturday dance class had just let out roughly ten minutes ago. She’d planned on going straight home, so she didn’t really bother packing a change of clothes so she could wander around or stop anywhere. She’d just slipped through the alleyway that had become a routine part of her shortcut home when the sky opened up and began to pour. The rain was coming down harder than she’d anticipated, and if she stopped even to open her umbrella, she’d certainly be soaked. Spying one of the run-down, owner-less buildings on the street, Airi made a beeline for the pane-less window that had somehow yet to be boarded up, and swung her legs over the windowsill.
Her dance bag landed on the floor before her feet did. It was notably dusty inside, and almost bereft save for empty, barely-clean display counters and broken tables and chairs that appeared to not be worth taking. It seemed like it had been some sort of bakery at one point. Airi’s athletic shoes squelched on the tile floor as she made her way to the front of the shop to see if she had to leave the same way she came in. She’d probably wait a few minutes just to dry off before venturing out again.
Sighing, Airi wrung out her ponytail, internally mourning her scrunchie if it didn’t survive the soaking it endured. She let loose the damp wave of blonde curls she called her hair to let it dry faster, and much to her surprise, saw Kyo settled under the awning of the same building. Weird coincidence, I suppose.
Kyo had yet to make any move towards entering the storefront, and he’d almost certainly be in for a fever if he didn’t get inside. She unlocked the front door and called out for him to come inside. His confusion was apparenty, and he was just as surprised, if not more, to see her. He started to explain why he needed to take shelter, and though she did care to know why, she was a little surprised he felt the need to tell her.
“Come on.” Airi propped the door open with her foot and yanked her sweatshirt over her head, hoping that the extra layer over her athletic tank top would help her warm up a bit faster. “I don’t know how old this building is, so I’d rather you be inside if the awning falls apart., especially if you already don’t feel well.”
