A Ghost in the Floral Field

She wanted to scream. By god, did she want to scream. Unfortunately, that would mean using up precious oxygen, and considering that her lungs were already failing, she really didn't have that much to spare.
A hand automatically rose to her mouth in a pathetic attempt to stifle the barrage of coughs that forced themselves to her lips. For a moment, the young girl struggled to breathe, which only added to her fear. By the time her lungs decided to have mercy on her and once again start working, she was a teary eyed mess.
She folded her arms around herself protectively, though what good it would do against a skeletal ghost was a mystery.
"I-I'm sorry..." She whispered. Sorry for what, she wasn't entirely sure yet. Sorry for trespassing, for her coughing fit, for disturbing the specter... anything would work there.
