Isoceles
Check out our deals on @justinwine including #isoceles Justin's flagship wine, this Bordeaux styled blend displays fragrant aromas of cassis. There are a few things you know just from the fact that it is an isosceles triangle. You know that two of the angles are the same (the angle made by side of length 9 and the side of length 4, on both sides). Β To find the angles, you then look at the triangle as two right triangles, like so:
(sorry for blurry pic, working late at night)
You basically have two identical triangles (just flipped over), with one side of length 9 that you know is the hypotenuse, and one side of length 2, a base. Therefore, you can easily find the angle that is marked out (the one between the side of length 9 and the side of length now 2) by using inverse cosines:
cosine (theta) = 2/9
theta is about 77.16 degrees or about 1.35 radians
That is the base angle.
Now to find the vertex angle.Β
Now you have one angle, it is easy to find the vertex angle. Β You know that a triangle's angles must add up to 180 degrees. With the base angles, you simply subtract to find the vertex angle:
180 - (inverse cosine(2/9) * 2) is about 25.68.
Hope that helps!
