As an atheist, I’ve always been interested in religions, but Muslims always left a bad aftertaste in conversations something I didn’t experience with other religious people. One time, I joined a chat where Muslims were present and asked: "Is it true that Aisha was 9 years old? and can her marriage to Muhammad be considered grooming?" At first, I was met with a barrage of insults and threats of being banned from the chat, as they thought I was trying to insult their religion and defame Muhammad (even though I was just asking, lol). Then other Muslims in the chat started explaining that at 9 years old, Aisha was a... sexually mature child 🤨. I began explaining that a 9-year-old child cannot be "sexually mature", that a child is neither physically or mentally ready for marriage, but the people in the chat insisted on their views, asking counter-questions like, "Who created the age of consent? Who created moral norms? Why can’t a child get married? 😡😡" And as evidence, they brought up names of children who had married adult men early or gotten pregnant young 💀 (they mentioned Unis Winston and Lina Medina), and they considered this the norm 🤨🤨. After that, I became quite Islamophobic and have no desire to interact with Muslims in any way, noo thank you.
