«CROSS-ROADS» (A Spotify Playlist)
Ā«Cross-RoadsĀ» [click HERE for playlist] is a vial of magic, medicinal and restorative. It starts with a greeting to fathers āElegua Changóā (Tito Puente) and the marvelous poem āPersonaā (Lorena Ćlvarez), so lyricalā¦touching on truest nature. A cinematic Spanish version of āEverybody Wants to Rule the Worldā (Elena Mendoza and Giorgio Moroder) ensues, crowned by āBrujerĆas Jotasā (Hidrogenesse). The seminal āMĆ”quinaā (Lissette) leads the āManiacā-beat into āRosaā (La Prohibida). āIch bin MusikāRadio Editā (Frances Barber) was written and produced by Pet Shop Boys for the cabaret show Musik. āImpressive Instantā (Madonna) gives metaphysical reckoning for āPuttinā on the Ritzā (Taco). āLe fille venue du Froidā (Rita Mitsouko) was recorded in their home studio. It is all deeply poetic: Des paupiĆØres/Sur deux yeux a l'envers (Eyelids/On two eyes upside down).
For the cover photo, I was styled by David Robinson, and wore his bedclothes. We shot on location at Hankins House for Wayward Boys, Callicoon, New York, during the winter of 2009.
