The species is included in the CNPS Inventory of Rare and Endangered Plants on list 2B.3 (rare, threatened, or endangered in CA; common elsewhere). It has a California State Rank of S2. There are just a small number of populations in San Diego and Imperial counties not far north of the border. Luckily, the plant is much wider spread in northern Baja California. The exserted stamens and style help identify this species. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.

Aren't those pink corollas luscious? Ipomopsis aggregata, I am thinking, which can be made into emetics for purging the digestive system, treating spider bites and colds.
