#ipa glass

Are people more honest when they’ve had a few? I guess that’s what this beer aims to find out. I had Dogfish Head’s Liquid Truth Serum in my official Dogfish Head IPA glass. This is a good but pretty standard India Pale Ale. There’s lots of juicy hop flavor but a subdued hop bitterness. It’s not a super exciting beer to where I’d seek it out but I would still happily drink it again. 

A glass for every IPA and an IPA for every glass. Happy IPA MAY, Rogues.

The arrival of Bell’s in Texas was met with a fair amount of fanfare. This Michigan brewery definitely has its fans. I can’t remember if this is the first time I’ve had Two Hearted Ale. It’s certainly the first time I’ve had it from a bottle. This is a standard but good American IPA. It’s balanced well with citrusy hop flavors and a mid-level hop bitterness.  

Anyone who lives in the Austin area will get the pun in this beer’s name. A tiny piece of Austin extends into Hays County though most of the city is in Travis County. Hays County is also the home of Texas State University in San Marcos, my alma mater. This double IPA from Hops & Grain is indeed hazy. There’s a juicy citrus thing going on as well as some powerful dank flavors. There’s not actually a whole lot of hop bitterness. I wish there was a little more to balance everything out. Haze County is still a pretty good beer but not the best I’ve ever had. Hops & Grain have done better.
