After a long time off I am finally posting my last blog posts about the breweries we visited before our hiatus. I have been dealing with a substantial family situation and it hasn't been until recently things have been letting up. That being said, here are the last two breweries we visited before the break! We will be visiting new breweries soon!!
Third Base Sports Bar and Brewery is easy to miss as you drive down the street in Cedar Rapids. It’s part of a line of stores and restaurants all in a row, and unless you are looking for it, you might drive right by! So make sure to look for it! Once you get in it has a very cozy and welcoming place. My favorite part of the whole pace is behind the main bar; it is all glass and it looks into the vats making all of the yummy beers! I love feeling like I am part of the brewing experience.
We tried several of the beers including Golden Hawk, Flying Aces Pale Ale and Bees Knees. We were sad that they no longer sell growlers with beer in them, but they were willing to sell an empty growler to us for a small price. It looks great next to my pint glasses I have been collecting as I go brewery to brewery!

I recently brewed a new saison with hibiscus petals. The grain bill includes a rustic blend of ingredients including rye & maize. The rye spiciness and the earthy and peppery notes of the yeast should combine for an complex beer. Now, throw in the slightly tart berry flavor of hibiscus and you have a beer that will leave you trying to breakdown the flavor with every drink.
