THE INVALID NALYD REVIEW
Hello, Wicked Cool Music Review back again here to review West Virginian Rapper,Producer,Crooner & aspiring media mogul Invalid Nalyd!
Iām hesitant to really explain him exactly because I racked my brain trying to compare him to another artist but I just canāt.
Nalyd has such a unique booming sound and style that you canāt classify him as one specific genre or even judge him by saying he is trying to sound like somebody else.
He is in fact so different that itās a headtrip to listen to because before clicking PLAY on any of his material in his humungous catlogue of never ending music I personally found myself thinkingĀ āWow he has so many styles and voices and instrumental change ups that you donāt know what to expectā.
I found out about Nalyd through a Reddit page showcasing the best underground emcees in the country. Now at first I seen a guy who looks like a teenage Bubba Sparxx from West Virginia. So immediately I thought this was going to be some backwood hilbilly trying to rap like Mini Thin and if you read my Mini Thin review from 2012 you would know I absolutely canāt stand how Mini Thin tries to sound like a wannabe rapper with Ā a fake voice and a lame gimmick. Iāll be honest however, I slept on Nalyd.
I kept pushing his review to the back on my review list for almost a year. Then one day I sat down and sighed heavily thinking ugh here we go time to listen to some hilbilly redneck try to rap or whatver. I listened to a song calledĀ āTampa Baeā first
HOLY FUCKING SHIT it blew me away. Tampa Bae wasnāt even a rap track. I heard Nalyd singing this vibrant heavenly melodyĀ āNow I orginateā It sounded like a rugged angel from above speaking itās first words to mankind. Not to mention the beat was produced by him and it was fucking outrageous. The beat had this early 90ā²s ish rave sound. Listening to the instrumental alone sounds like an LSD trip in a crowd of 1,000 people.Ā Then it breaks down into this Justin Timberlake-esqĀ āTELL ME TELL ME HOW DOES IT FEEL NOW!ā and the whole song was a raw fusion of 90ā²s rave music, a hint of new wave techno and just a dash of industrial metal strings. Beautiful home made music that deserves credit. Nalyd has the potential to be the future of Hip-Hop or even Pop music. This could be the start of a future star that came from the very bottom and is honestly still there.
TIME TO REVIEW!!!!
Rating: 8.7/10
I give him a 8.7 because I think his only downfall is the quality isnāt very good. Sounds very lo-fi. I feel like he records these all on his own otherwise it if Nalyd had actual professional equipment he would be a solid 10 no jokeĀ
Message: 9.9/10
9.9 of 10! Top notch quality lyrically. His message has a common theme of invalidation or like he is trying to seek approval either from an anonymous lover that he yearns to be with or he is seeking props from his fellow rapĀ comrades. I gathered enough information toĀ confirm that Nalyd is a veryĀ intelligentĀ man. I feel like Nalyd might be so smart in fact that it feels like his tight knitĀ fan-baseĀ is cult and theyĀ have a underlying agenda. Nalydās message is very high-brow and so damn eloquent that if you havenāt experienced neglect or rejection then you might not appreciate his art at all. He considers himselfĀ āINVALIDā meaning that he feels like whatever he does will never matter. As sad as that sounds and is. Itās beautiful in a way. He spews his love, anger, frustrations and all out on the paper and then into the instrumentals that are so perfectly woven into the songs. He only wants love from the girl of his dreams and I think after failing to save his princess from the burning tower he now resides in anĀ āinvalidā state of mind. Although he has used that weakness to play to his strengths. He now considers himself a hallway for other people to take his message and prosper through life. He is not religious because he has a moral belief that says to worship yourself. I think Nalyd canāt be compared to another rapper but IĀ definitelyĀ can compare him to aĀ scientist of sorts. He is the lost soul, the misunderstood genius. I worry about Nalydās health from his lean abuse and letās all hope we donāt lose a legend in the making. I honestly think the kid from a West Virginia trailer park could be the future of the ever changing music industry. Only time will tell. He has the potential to change the landscape and sound of music forever.
