hiya babes ! i’m nae, she/her, 19  --  although :/ i have all the traits of a Grandma™ -- i’m currently studying animal studies at college,  i’m from good ol’ straya, and my favourite past time is Destroying the lives of my ocs !  it’s lovely to meet ya’ll ! i’ll be writing danneel laundin, who was loosely based off an old oc that i’ve been playing in hs for awhile now, but i’m so EXCITED so let’s get down to the itty bitty bits, huh !

 born danneel eve laundin   (  call her nell !  )   at the coffee creek correctional facility   (  after mama got arrested nine months prior due to theft   &  fraud offences. n*ce !  )   to parents staffan  &  petra laundin  ---  staffan owned the local lowell hunting  &  tackle  store  and  petra  was.  .  .  .  the  ol’ rapscallion of town  ---  a couple that admitted their relationship was created purely for the convenience rather than affection  &  the child that formed was not one of love, but one from drunken foolishness.  the only two things they managed to agree on was ONE. they hated the thought of being stuck together for the remainder of their days and TWO. they hated the thought of being stuck together for the remainder of their days with a child. 

petra was in and out of the correctional facility for the majority of her child’s life, and danneel learnt not to grow attached to the flighty woman that’s forever leaving  --- many times a toddler shed some tears for the woman that would barely give her a glance when she walked in the front door from a late night or the months spent behind bars. danneel is only young when she learns that a hard heart is a safe heart, and the ice thickens around her own  ---- which is inevitable considering the parental figure she was forced to be raised by. staffan laundin is all sharp edges  &  intimidation, an icy shell and even icier core that never falters, and a man that never shows affection, softness, nor smiles. emotions are absent in this household, and any tears or laughter danneel emits is scolded. he despises her, she can tell, because he wanted a son, not a daughter. 

danneel spends her childhood struggling to gain her father's respect  --- afterall, a girl can’t keep up with him, nor can she be trusted to man his store, or go on hunts. she fights hard to keep up with his pace  &  prove her capabilities, and eventually the constant scowls  &  stern tones from the Old Prude eventually subdue  ;  he teaches her how to fire a rifle, how to track her game, how to navigate the wilderness, how to be HUNTER and not hunted.

danneel is only fifteen when her mother is convicted of second degree murder, and petra laundin pleads guilty to the crime, receiving a lifetime sentence   ----  the laundin’s weren’t a well off family. the store her father owned was a unreliable source of income that often left meals being replaced with whatever game steffan managed to drag home, but following the conviction of petra, the town of lowell refused to purchase off the family who murdered one of the most respectful men in town. reputations run wild, and soon speculations began that it was a family ordeal, and even the father and daughter are shunned.

the remainder of danneel’s school life was brutal, spawning a defensive streak  &  sharp tongue that gets her into more trouble than not. she drops out of highschool, works at her dad’s full time at her father’s store. eventually, she moves one town over; gets a job at buckhorn tavern  &  feels settled  ----  she makes sure visit mom once a year  (  two if she can help it.  )  and her dad every few months. but danneel doesn’t have much sentiment for family, she doesn’t have much sentiment over anything.

following the news of the virus, danneel instinctively retreats to her father who, just like any other visitation, is passed out on the floor due to drink. lowell remains secure for a good week before people start to panic when mrs. kluger decides to take a chump out of her husband down the road  &  the whole town gets taken by the dead  ---  the laundin’s take refugee in the hunting cabin, and do what they’ve done for years ; hide from the world, survive on their own. 

danneel spends a year there, and besides the odd infected that gets caught in a trap or bangs on their front door, that year is peaceful, for the apocalypse. staffan comes home with dinner looking like he’s been through the war  --  scratches line his neck  &  there’s a bite wound on his shoulder  -- and danneel doesn’t wait to put him out of his misery, she pulls the gun on him then and there.

she remained on her own after that tbh. she didn’t join any other camps, avoided interaction with anyone (  was with one chick for awhile tho?? uh , ,her name was blair ?? or brigid ?? briar?? danneel might have left her 2 Die.  ) in fact, she avoided the human species for the entirety of her travel to san francisco, and even then, the thought of  joining a camp? Disgusting, but she took a liking to fort point. found the people who resided there  .  .  .interesting, adopted the title deputy and for the most part does a pretty darn good job, if i do say so myself !

except the moral compass is a little iffy, but it’s Fine. for the most part she’s ok. the other parts she’s a Rude Ass DEVIL who needs to learn to keep her gun in her holster ! gosh.

has a really good sense of judgement tho, , ,not trying to justify her Bad Habits because i disapprove of everything she does, but she’s very much like a hybrid between carol peletier and, , ,Vengeful rick grimes??

david was a hopeful, cheerful boy upon entering this world. he went through milsestones quickly, his curiosity for the world around him often outshining the obstacles he faced. his parents would learn to describe him adventurous nature as admirable. he lived life as any other child would: bruises, scrapes, broken arms. he learned that even through pain, there were beautiful lessons. 

it wasn’t until he was 4 that the brightness and the light from within was turned to darkness. he was at his friends hours for a playdate when it happened: a semi pulled out of nowhere as his loving parents drove home from the movie s and before he knew it, david was an orphan. 

from then on, david could remember a growing sense of pain and ugliness within him. anger filled him like nothing else. he remembered having no one wanting to claim him, to take him into their home. even his aunt didn’t want to,  but eventually, she gave into a 6 year old david and allowed him to stay so long as he pulled his own weight. 

david was thankful, of course, but it was difficult to live in a place that he was not wanted and so he learned to resent even himself for his own existence. he grew angrier and angrier, began coming home with bloody fists and bruised eyes. 

eventually, as high school rolled around the corner, a counselor at school spoke to him, told him about the world of football and how many before him learned to channel their anger and emotions through the sport. after a series of fights and arguments, david was tossed into the football team as a last hail mary before they kicked him out for good. 

he grew to love the sport, he truly did. through it, he was finally able to find friends and family, a place to call a community. after practice dinners, pre-game work outs and ice baths — he has finally began to feel like things were coming together. however, the hole that was created by the absence of his parents no longer could be ignored and football wasn’t enough to fill it. 

parties, girls, hookups — it became a regular thing. he became the popular guy, the one guy on the football team who may have actually had a shot to go professional. but alas, the partying caught up to him and by the time he went off to college, he had begun to neglect his studies. it wasn’t long before his school asked him to leave and david was left directionless and broken. for a while, he traveled the country, not knowing where or what to do. 

eventually, david settled into a job at a mall  — a security guard of all things. there, he made friends with high schoolers working the foodstands and people that passed by. though his ego may have been shattered from the loss of a potential football career, he coinvicned himself that he was okay. 

ever since then, he’s been convincing himself that he is okay, and that nothing is wrong. he is a smiling, laughing opponent to the harsh realities of the apocalypse.

ex-girlfriend: since david was... literally in almost every state at one point or another between the ages of 19-23, it doesnt rlly matter where ur muse is from. just imagine a young, cool david rollin’ up with his leather jackets and having a vv young and fun relationship w/ ur muse then abandoning them once he realizes he has #issues and hates himself. think of the angst, pals !

party friend: this would be his best party friend throughout his like.. 6 months in college lmao. it would be the guy he went to when he needed something fun. most likely they were also in a frat or the football team so that they could party all night and drink kale smoothies in the morning while they work out. true bros doing bro things. maybe made each other friendship bracelets. 

happier: kinda.. based on happier by marshmello & bastille ?? just someone that knows him well and knows he isn’t truly happy inside and just.. works hard to make him happy from within rather than working for cheap smiles. just some cute fluff !

hannah was originally from the middle of bumfuck nowhere dyersville, iowa, a small “city” that served as the filming location of the famous baseball movie, field of dreams. which tbh was its only claim to fame. otherwise, it was just a lot of rolling green pastures and farmland.

the greenbergs were a humble, but gigantic family with paternal german-jewish and maternal portuguese-jewish roots. they lived and worked on the same farm that hannah’s great-great-great grandfather, asael greenberg, built after immigrating to the states in the mid 19th century.

her father, david greenberg, and her mother, rachel moreno, were high school sweethearts who married one another only two years after graduation. and then proceeded to procreate like rabbits.

hannah was the fifth out of eight children, born smack in the middle between the only other greenberg daughters; leah, who was three years older and a great deal more rebellious, and naomi, who was two years younger and preferred to bury her nose in books. the rest of the greenberg children were all boys, who spent their days divided between working on the farm regardless of weather conditions (the older ones) and releasing the cows from the fenced-in boundaries of old man levesque’s cattle ranch (the younger ones).

her parents and the majority of her siblings were, unfortunately, claimed by the infection in 2016. the only greenbergs that remain are hannah and two of her older brothers, who can be found on the wanted connections page of the main. as the sole survivors of their family, the three of them have essentially been glued to each other’s sides since the outbreak.

prior to that, hannah was a good kid. she was an a/b student in eighth grade, co-captain’d the girl’s basketball team as a shooting guard, and even had a girlfriend for all of two seconds (who’s probably a zombie now. rip sara kushner from hebrew school).

she’s still a good kid, but the apocalypse has definitely had an effect on her. she is extremely quiet. for some people, unbearably quiet. it’s very rare to hear her speak more than five-word sentences, and pretty much unheard of for her to utter anything above a murmuring volume. 

i imagine that most of her fellow campers trust her as a driver because they know she won’t start blabbing about any occurrences, regardless of how big or small they are. and even though she’s largely non-confrontational, her reflexes are as fast as lightning and she’s not too bad with a firearm when it’s necessary. 

she probably could’ve been an informant of some kind instead, but she turned sixteen after the apocalypse and, up until then, her driving skills had been limited to a john deer ride-on mower and a farming tractor. so you can’t really blame her for wanting to get her own chance behind the wheel of a car. or in this case, a fully armored jeep with a load of cargo in the back and a semi-automatic pistol in the console.

( katelyn nacon + female + she/her ) — there’s a rumor running around about a survivor called emmilina "emmy" winters. they are said to be nineteen years old, from oakland, california, and have been labeled the artisan. fitting, considering that they are reported to be polite + creative, as well as quiet + clumsy. they reside in hotel drisco and are a sentinel. apparently they are a bisexual libra. tucked in shirts & tired eyes.

she was visiting her aunt with her brother in san fran when the apocalypse started. her aunt got bit & roams somewhere in the streets because her and her brother couldn’t shoot her. so instead, left her

her and her brother were alone for a long, long time until her brother figured it would be better to join a group than go on alone ( he was the leader of the two of them so she went along ) & so they joined hotel drisco 10 months ago

( medalion rahimi + cisfemale + she/her ) — there’s a rumor running around about a survivor called alia shahidi. they are said to be twenty five years old, from bellflower, ca, and have been labeled the satirical. fitting, considering that they are reported to be versatile + piquant, as well as impetuous + querulous. they are a rogue in san francisco. apparently they are a bisexual aries. cigarette smoke + finger painting.

alia and her older sister, leila, were first-generation american children born to immigrant iranian parents. her father was an accountant back in iran and he continued to practice his trade once arriving to america with his wife. 

leila was daddy’s little girl, alia was mommy’s. the girls had a favorite parent from an early age. while leila was far more wise with her choices -- a master at manipulating situations to fit her plans -- alia was far less prudent. she took the dive in first approach and hardly ever bothered checking for water in the pool. her mother, a kind yet stubborn woman, found herself tending to bruises and scratches far more often than she’d like. 

the girls were born and raised in sacramento, california up until alia was ten. that’s when the divorce papers and accusations of adultery were thrown on their dinner table. the process was quick, quicker than alia had time to process and soon she found herself shoved into a car and driving away with her mother to bellflower, california. leila stayed with her father. it seemed parents picked favorites, too. 

middle school was a blur of verbal fights and turmoil until adjustment kicked in. until she found coping mechanisms in things like her guitar -- which she never learned how to tune quite right -- and the soccer field. high school was much the same, with joints under the bleachers and escapades to the school rooftop for a hook up during classes. she saw her dad the first few summers after the divorce, but the event didn’t repeat itself after she turned fifteen. 

she went to college in sacramento, however, for the sake of maybe reviving the slim to none relationship with leila, who’d grown up to be an accountant just like their father. the love was barely there, distant, bitter. because their mother had chosen alia. because their father had chosen leila. because neither of them would ever be enough for both their parents. after becoming a preschool teacher, alia moved back to bellflower and jumped from school to school. none ever felt right. that’s when her sights turned to san francisco. 

she found a school she liked there, and settled in. in the following years, she said farewell to her mother and made her home a shrine with drawings, pictures and other gifts her students gave her.

when the outbreak hit she was in school. one of her students, four year old timothy, had contracted the virus and before she knew it the little boy was chewing away at his classmates. she tried to stop him. tried to be gentle. but survival kicked in and when it settled she found a tiny head crushed beneath her shaking foot. the children ran and she never saw them again. 

ptsd came in the form of auditive hallucinations and her own frayed nerves did little to help the trauma. the feeling of guilt became a regular companion and alia, usually a social being, retracted into her home and got by on sheer luck and instinct. loneliness moved in and constant fear.

mayumi was born in kamagasaki, osaka, a city in japan known for their riots and mistreatment of criminals. for three years, mayumi lived in the city until eventually, she, her mother, father, and older brother relocated to inglewood, california. there, mayumi shared a small 3 bedroom house with her older brother, mother, father, aunt, and uncle. she’d remember that time as chaotic, soaked in silent abuse and predatory nature fufilled by the men in her house. their family, however, lived in a ever-present culture of silence, withdrawn, solemn faces given when issues were presented. & so, mayumi learned to become a silent young woman, seen but not heard. 

the sekimotos were the only japanese family on their street, and mayumi remained to be one of a handful of japanese students in her school. living this way, mayumi became quite the unique image among her peers. at first, this resulted in harsh words and insults, flung to her like poisonous darts. eventually, however, as children matured, mayumi began to fit in more and more. 

with maturity came new ideas, and these new ideas brought life to mayumi sekimoto. slowly but surely, she dropped her quiet persona, eventually learning to speak up and stand up for herself, to her families disapproval, of course. however, while mayumi may have changed in some ways, in others, she remained the same. no matter which bad habit she picked up — smoking, partying, drinking, stealing pills from the medicine cabinet — mayumi always managed to maintain excellent grades. alongside her grades, mayumi played volley, ran cross country, and competed in karate tournaments. simply put, despite mayumi’s chaotic personal life, her education and extra cirriculur part of her life remained a steady, even source of pride for her parents. 

once the outbreak hit, mayumi was living in san francisco going to school at uc berkley. after the initial outbreak hit, she went home to her family, eventually being forced to kill them all before she inevitably returned back to san francisco where she found a home with the civic center station.

personality-wise, mayumi has developed into a silent woman of sorts. she’ll often pretend to not speak japanese to get out of talking to others, even if she’s well aware that the other knows she speaks english. she’s sarcastic and cruel and most times, caring to very few people and a short attention span when it comes to friendships. she’s picky and only talks to those she finds interesting

tl;dr: mayumi is a first-generation japanese immigrant who moved here from japan. lowkey a bitch and will pretend to not speak english to get out of talking

college friend: maybe someone that went to uc berkley and was close friends with her! they probably studied a lot or maybe were even roommates in the last 2-3 years of their studies. this would also be the person who knows her best. they would know about her family and the abuse she went through. maybe they were with each other when the outbreak first hit but mayumi left to go to los angeles and they havent been able to reconnect since. 

hateship (male or female lmao): mayumi is filled with hatred so maybe a hook-up based in rather volatile nature. very hateful but passionate and they easily fall into this pattern. 

family is everything

that’s what her parents taught her, that no matter what, you must always be there for family. the sentiment was ingrained into her brain, ever since she was a young child.

the ortegas led a quiet life ; the only person she was allowed to play with was her brother, which she didn’t mind, as long as he didn’t tug on her ponytails but that was only a problem when she was younger, because as she grew older, she learned how to fight back, much to his dismay. no matter how much they fought and teased each other, isa loved her brother and she looked up to him, even if he was only four years older than her. anything he did, she tried to emulate.

a four year old should never really see her mother with tears in her eyes as she scrubbed her father’s blood off the carpet. isa tried to hide behind her brother, to have him shield her and hold her hand as the cops came into the house and questioned their mother, but it wasn’t like it was a mystery ; the cartel had taken their due.

as she grew older, isa grew more cynical, more angry at the world ; why did were their family caught up in the cartel’s ways, why had their father doomed them and why was her brother falling in the same life ? she had offers herself, to become a money changer mainly, because she was attractive and knew how to persuade, but she spat at whoever had offered, even if it earned her a few bruises that she hid from her family. isa would never fall into the arms of the bastards that killed her father.

isa is not one for subtlety, and when she announced that she was going to join law enforcement, she shocked her whole family, especially her brother. she was saddened by the fact that he pushed her away because of their polarising lives, but she understood, and it was safer for the both of them.

she was a damn good recruit, and after a couple of years as a cop, she was enlisted in a task force that was created to take down the cartel. the only thing she wouldn’t do, was hurt her brother and she was reprimanded for it, time and time again by her superiors, but she kept refusing, and they couldn’t lose her, because she was one of the best.

as she stared down the barrel of her brother’s gun, isa was terrified, but made sure not to show it. her murmuring, ‘do it’ to him was enough to make tears stain her face, but she knew that if he didn’t do it, then he would end up getting killed by the cartel, and she would have an even bigger target on her back ; she was ready to sacrifice herself because family was everything. she was angry when diego purposefully missed her, and tried to taunt him into doing it, but he just wouldn’t.

that was the only time when she was thankful for the outbreak ; the cartel and the task force were forgotten as the undead began to walk among them. the ortegas stuck together as they ran away, together at last without a barrier between them. 

when it came to joining camps, isa just couldn’t join the civic centre, because she’d heard of how rough and brutal they were ; she considered it, to be able to stick by diego’s side, but she was very firm on her ideals, and she couldn’t bring herself to do it. besides, they could see each other whenever they wanted, without having to kill each other.
