ryan grew up in portland oregon, with an older sister and two older brothers. her parents were both artists, so creativity was always encouraged in her house. ryan took up painting at a young age, which her parents were thrilled about. she would go to galleries and shows with her father, it was something the two really bonded over.
at a young age ryan was diagnosed with severe anxiety. she suffers from really bad panic attacks. she’s been on medication and going to therapy for years, but like with most mental illnesses, she still has her bad days. she’s a generally nervous person anyways, always thinking a mile a minute. her brain never slows down, and sometimes she has a hard time just shutting up and relaxing.
by the time ryan was in high school all of her siblings were in or already out of college. she would go to parties with her older sister and sneak out after curfew. mostly little things that most teenagers do, but it only took one time of her parents catching her for them to really crack down on it.
ryan felt suffocated at home. she saw all of her older siblings out doing these fun and crazy things, and that’s what she wanted to be doing. at the time she didn’t understand why her parents were being so unfair, but now she knows they only wanted to keep her safe.
she still snuck out and went out on the weekends, but was always very smart about it. ryan knew how to make sure her parents believed whatever she was telling them, no questions asked.
she knew from the time she was a kid that she wanted to be a nurse. her best friend growing up’s mom was a nurse and she always shared the coolest stories with the two girls. ryan wanted to help people like she did, she’s always been very compassionate. so that’s what she went to college for. it seemed more practical than painting for a living, though she still enjoys the hobby a lot.
ready to get away from her hometown and her overbearing parents, ryan loved college. she worked hard for her grades, but left plenty of time for fun parties and spring break trips with her friends. and after graduating, she got a job at her local hospital.
a couple of months ago her father passed away from a heart attack, and it was really hard on ryan. she was very much her father’s daughter and the two of them were really close, so she’s still grieving. after losing her dad she wanted to get as far away from her hometown as possible. but she settled on ivywood.
ryan only moved to ivywood a couple of months ago. she got offered a shift lead position at the town’s hospital so she took it, excited to actually get away and start a life for herself.
