Since their formation in Newcastle in 1979, they have paved the way for extreme metal and, with black metal, created their own genre, which is now more popular worldwide than ever. Their influence as pioneers remains immense. “Into Oblivion” is Venom’s 16th studio album and features the long-standing line-up of Cronos (bass/vocals and founding member), Rage (guitar) and Dante (drums). These are their first new recordings since ‘Storm The Gates’ from 2018. “Into Oblivion” comprises 13 tracks in typical Venom style: heavy, dark and catchy. They combine their classic 80s sound with a modern, more progressive approach, without losing any of the band’s old-school intensity and fury. A seminal influence on the evolution of extreme metal, Venom were at the vanguard of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
