The last thing the one-eyed sailor could recall before his vision went dark was how just cruel the ocean could be.

Winds howled as monumental waves crashed onto the deck of the Black Pearl. They had tucked in the sails in time, but as the ship rose and fell to the swell and crest of the sea, the ship was left tossed bobbing like a cork.

The harrowing cry of Hold on!! was the last words the lanky sailor recalled hearing before being on the receiving end of fate’s cruelty... holding on to the ship ratlines, but being blindsided by a broadside wave and swept away off the ship by the current.

With crashing waves drowning out his shouts, Ragetti’s years of sailing knew there was no escaping this one. If the crushing storm wasn’t going to end him — well, he figured it would be a better fate than being left in the aftermath without a raft in the middle of the ocean.

And yet, perhaps the ocean was not so heartless after all...

Like out of the mythological stories of Odysseus being rescued before Poseidon could claim another life... perhaps this wasn’t going to end like that of a Greek Tragedy after all...

The lanky man groaned as his consciousness slowly returned to him, before awaking in a panic and keeling over to one side to cough up the perpetual taste of saltwater in his throat. Exhausted, his strength gave in and he collapsed on his back again, before blearily looking up to hear a familiar voice.

“Must’ve been rotten being trapped in someplace ye never wanted for so long... can’t even imagine” and yet there was a strange relatableness in his tone. Not quite on the scale that she went through, but the whole sense of gaining freedom.

Ragetti leaned over the edge of the railing, looking out to the sea. “Glad ye finally gained yer freedom again” This comment was genuine, and his gaze soft. Funny to think he had some part in it, whispering those words to her. “an’ ye got plenty o’ time on yer hands to get used to it again.”
