Mr. Blue, Bermuda This handsome boy and his girlfriend were checking out my bluebird box this morning. Last year they checked it out for three weeks but decided it was not up to their standards! Fingers crossed that this year they change their minds and find it to be to their liking. I hope all my fellow islanders have their bluebird boxes ready to go. Sadly, it will be very difficult for male bluebirds to secure nesting sites during the spring as competition with highly aggressive sparrows ultimately ends up in the bluebirds losing out. Bermuda's native bluebirds are now dependent on humans for their survival. Without nest boxes, their numbers would crash. Please ensure that you keep an eye on your nest boxes and remove sparrow nests. There are many other areas for sparrows to nest, but bluebirds only have nest boxes. π·: @jriedererphotography #bermuda #bird_brilliance #naturelover_gr #kings_birds_ #photoarena_nature #wearebermuda #ahhbermuda #bluebird #nuts_about_birds #intobermuda (at Bermuda)
