It's always awesome to realise that the folks behind a blog that champions an underappreciated something I adore (One Era Who) are also fans of another thing I adore (Frasier). Requisite questions-you've-probably-answered-a-billion-times: Favourite Niles/Daphne moment? Favourite Daphne and Martin buddy moment? And, how would Fraiser and the rest react to meeting Team TARDIS One?
Yay, we always love finding other Frasier fans, especially those who love Doctor Who as well. And thanks for the questions, its always nice to get to talk about other things sometimes and especially as after One era, Frasier is our next big love.
Favourite Niles/Daphne moment-Â
Wow, so many to choose from. We’ll pick a few. We really love the argument they have in one of the early seasons where he insults Daphne’s talk shows and they start yelling and insulting each other. Niles finds it thrilling and passionate and so keeps trying to piss her off again lol. Well the episode ‘First Date’ is really a fave for general Niles/Daphne. We love two scenes, the first is where they sing heart and soul whilst chopping vegetables and then we love the bit where he invites Daphne to share the meal with him and she says ‘I think pretty soon you’ll be sitting to dinner with the woman of your dreams’ and he says ‘I think you may just be right.’ Aww so cute. And finally, another fave scene is where their dates Rodney and Adele leave them for each other and Niles and Daphne end up at the singles bar. They talk about what it might have been like if they had met there and then she says ‘I love ya Doctor Crane’ and he says ‘I love you too, Daphne’. Just really love that whole scene and how its played and how heartbreaking that the ‘I love you’ means different things for them.
Favourite Daphne and Martin buddy moment?Â
Love these two together. The scenes that are coming to mind are the one in the restaurant on Valentine’s Day where they both feel insecure and keep asking the other what’s attractive about them. And then Daphne just says that really funny line where Martin thinks she’s gonna say they’re like a couple, but she says ‘It’s sort of like you’re my pet’. The look on Martin’s face, almost as put out when she insults him whilst watching the Rockford Files (Another funny scene). Our fave is probably when Martin stops Daphne getting the flu jab and so she gets ill and asks him to read her a romance novel. He gets to an erotic chapter and he’s shuffling and drinking beer and wiping sweat away from his forehead with embarrassment. Thinking she’s asleep, he says ‘The next morning’ and she’s like ‘You missed a bit’. We just love how awkward he is but how she’s loving it.Â
How would Frasier and the rest react to team One?
Well that would be interesting! The TARDIS lands in Elliot Bay Towers and Frasier and Niles think its some sort of modern art. If they travelled with the TARDIS team, Martin would most likely take his chair into the console room lol. Daphne and Susan could share thoughts about telepathy and psychic abilities, Roz would be hitting on Ian. Ian and Barbara would be taken to the opera by Frasier and Niles. They could swap their old men, like One could spend the week with Frasier at home, drinking beer and watching TV (He’d hate it lol) and then Martin could be the Doctor for a week. He’d probably make a mess of the TARDIS and watch sport with Ian and allow Eddie to sit on the console. If Vicki was there, she’d be very happy to dog-sit Eddie. :)
