Here's a sci-fi blockbuster I daydreamed in the bath last week. It's set a few years in the future; the news cycles are as chaotic as ever, war, floods, Brexit etc and one of Elon Musk‘s SpaceX rockets is heading to Mars. At some point in the journey mission control loses contact with the crew, the ships life monitoring systems indicate the crew have fallen asleep... ~~~ In the year 2024 the human race discovers that consciousness is not a product of brain activity but is in fact a field of energy that envelops the earth. Creatures on earth evolved brains to tune into this field like a radio tuning into a broadcast. We, and all living creatures capable of tuning into the consciousness field are the sense organs of the planet, evolved by the planet. Yes, that‘s right, all planets are conscious living beings, but not as we know it Jim. 🌍 Through this revelation people around the world come to realise the concept of being an individual consciousness is just an illusion, and we are all the one field of consciousness experiencing itself as an individual through the filter of the brain. Not everyone goes along with this idea as you can imagine. Though those that get the gist lose the fear of death and the concept of a conscious human being takes on a whole new meaning and brings an end to most of the bad stuff that goes on in the world. We also develop a great relationship with the planet. Hip hip hooray! Right, so back to those sleeping astronauts... you may have guessed that by travelling so far from earth the astronauts brains could no longer tune into the Earth field of consciousness? You were right. But did you consider what happens when the astronaut‘s brains tune into the Mars field of consciousness? By sending life to Mars we will have created life on Mars, and these Martians are going to say lots of creepy stuff in backwards Lynchian speak.
