So, my friend and I are making a story, but we're at a halt. I heard my friends talking and they got into an argument. My older friend said to the other that using the "H" word is offensive when referring to someone who is intersex. My other friend said that intersex is synonymous with that word and that you can't use intersex to refer to creatures. I'm the neutral party in this argument, but I want them to stop fighting. Who is right in this argument and how can I stop them from fighting?
So we don’t have any intersex mods, but the h-slur is in fact a slur and should not be used, yeah. As for getting them to stop fighting idk, this isn’t really an interpersonal advice blog, but I would suggest that you talk to your one friend and explain that while you know they’re not trying to hurt anyone, they are misinformed on what that word means and that its use is harmful to intersex people? And, like, try to make it clear that you’re not trying to say that they’re a bad person or taking the other friends side so that they don’t get defensive? And you might want to read up on why it’s bad so that you can have facts available for your friend. I dunno, that’s what I’ve seen advised for this kind of thing before. I hope this helps!
