Why is internet explorer opening on startup?! I've never even used it on this computer!
I know itâs a bit late to talk about Internet Explorer in a serious sense, but I still periodically check that my websites run properly on the damn thing. I mean, sooner or later somebodyâs brotherâs nephewâs cousinâs former roommate is going to try browsing the internet on their hand-me-down toaster, so you might as well be ready for the odd visit from somebody running IE. Of course, itâs also an old joke that some people deliberately visit sites using IE 6 just to freak out the siteâs webmasters.
Anyway, Iâve noticed something peculiar about using IE to visit my development server. We all know that IE is slow as molasses in winter, but it also seems to do something weird to the Apache2 server. After viewing a few pages, the server lags tremendously; other browsers experience a ~400 ms delay before connecting, and things like shared folders on the serverâs system temporarily stop working.
Itâs just a short blip, but what the hell is going on?
This also makes one wonder if IE is choking actual traffic when people use it for their normal browsing. If so, then it was worse for the internet than we thought.
Also, if anyoneâs curious, Edge does not have this issue. Itâs an IE thing.
Today I had to practice listening to and identifying heart murmurs, but the audio wouldnât play. Long story short, it didnât work because I was on Chrome, and it only works if youâre using Internet Explorer or Firefox. I also found out that I actually do still have IE on this computer.
In case anyoneâs wondering, itâs still slow as shit.

I just had to open Internet Explorer to check if a problem was specific to my browser. Brings back bad memories.
I feel like I have to scrub my computer screen now.

[cfsp key=âadsense_336x280âł]âWeâve known for months now that Microsoft was working on a new browser currently named Project Spartan for Windows 10, but it always appeared as though the company planned to keep Internet Explorer front and center,â Kristofer Wouk reports for Fox News. âBut the negative connotations with the name were just too much â Microsoft is finally giving up on IE.â
