#SorryNotSorry to interrupt your mindless scrolling but I came across this picture of my mama (who turned 70 this year!!) On my Facebook feed. So because I am slacking returning her calls (and everyone else’s these days), I thought to just post and brag on her a little bit. I promise I wouldn’t be getting through this transition without her. Even though she’s 3 thousand miles away, she makes all the time for me that I demand. She answers my calls and let’s me cry shamelessly. Sometimes she even cried with me. And it warms my heart to be able to witness the love we share for my father. In those moments, I realize how privileged I am to to be the product of single parent households but to have also witnessed the live that made me, in my lifetime between the people that made me. I’ll always admit two things about my mom. 1. Our relationship has always been, and will always be, complicated. [as is the case with all mothers and daughters] AND [#ALWAYSAND ] 2. She is my rock. My everything. My dad was my best friend but my mom is like my big sister bestie. Like she holds a list piece of my heart.. and I am so grateful for everything she has and keeps doing for me and my children.. for this family .. #pointis she is who I wanted to be when I grew up.. and she still is cause: My mama 70 years young yall!!
