Hey I don’t know if this has been said before but I was thinking about it and thought I’d share. There’s a reason why gen z and millennials are so “ready to die ™️” and make casual jokes about death and it’s not just because they’re young and edgy. It’s because they are growing up/ slash have grown up in a world where the possibility of dying is everywhere: the grocery store, school, a concert. Knowing there is a very real chance you could be gunned down while simply out living your life is a very real thing in the world right now and I think younger generations have latched onto humor as a coping mechanism because that kind of knowledge at such a young age is incredibly hard to deal with. I don’t know. Just a thought.
if anyone wanted to discuss this or anything like it I wouldn’t mind. I just really think there are very specific horrifying reasons why the younger generations come off as so nihilistic and use that kind of dark humor.
