not to get on a soapbox but, I do wonder why suddenly the argument around how “fiction affects reality” is coming back around when for years people fought tooth and nail about how video games, ( a popularized male fanbase ) DIDNT make people violent even with their often violent and sexual content. But when books, ( a prominently female fanbase ) have violent, dark, or sexual content it’s suddenly public enemy number one for “you can’t put that in books!! It’ll make people do that.”

Nancy x Isabella is stupid and awful to me on a few levels but one of the biggest ones is like....it was so clearly cobbled together because the writers anticipated they might be called homophobic for killing off one half of the last wlw couple in the show. And that's bad, first and foremost but like...what about the fact you killed off a sex worker in the dumbest way possible? What about the way you portrayed her (Charlotte's) probable bisexuality? What about all that? That can't be patched up just because you let Lady Fitz snog a woman who has actually never even liked her or her class. Bad.
