I write about love the way astronomers talk about distant stars—certain of their existence, even if I’ve never been close enough to understand what it truly feels like. Love, for me, has always been a quiet theory, something I’ve observed in fragments: a softened smile, a steady hand, a voice that lowers without thinking. I haven’t met it face-to-face, not in the way people say you should, yet I keep tracing its outlines through other people’s stories. Maybe that’s why the words come so easily—they’re my way of learning its shape before it ever arrives.
