#interesting classes

Hello! This is a continuation of a random weekly post inspired by Superfruit that I started last month where I talk about something I'm really excited about each week.

This week, I've been obsessed with my Study of Women and Gender class (SWAG) called "Gender, Law, and Policy". In this class, I am going to learn about the legal status of women in the United States in terms of employment, education, sexuality, reproduction, family, and violence. So far, the class has discussed about the importance of intersectional feminism and several important cases about laws regarding employment in America.

This is my first time taking a SWAG class ever. It's also my first time learning about law and policy. I've always hid away in the natural sciences, but taking this class made me realise that humanities and social sciences make me really excited too. The discussion between classmates and professor is always heated in this class. I'm following, but I'm not really contributing yet. I'll get there. :)

This class helps me appreciate the feminism movement. Although the class zipped past 300 years of history in two weeks, I got a better understanding of the progress made by women's rights activists and the work that still has to continue today.

I would really recommend all Smith students (in fact, EVERYBODY) to learn about feminism and women's rights whether it be taking a class, attending a public event, or googling it.
