Flying! Today I'm taking you #behindthescenes of #tradingplaces - and back to one of my very first blog posts (and the first one to go viral). I was in Leon, Nicaragua and went sledding down a LIVE VOLCANO. It was a pretty wild experience, but I loved the hike up Cerro Negro volcano and the feeling of flying from this jutting rock. Back then (2012), I didn't know a whole lot about how to share my journey, and Instagram wasn't even a thing. But I loved exploring and the adventure, and sharing it all with you along the way! Since then, I've been experiencing how people live around the world, and taking you along on the journey. I've also gotten plenty of inspiration from my readers as well! Story Story! ... __________________ Hi you, I'm Oyewale Oyelami! You've been seeing my random posts for a while now and you're yet to figure out "what's doing this guy sef😏", here's my story. Rewind 3 years back, I was fresh out of service (NYSC) and it seemed my only option was to return to the job I did before, during and after my degree - teaching - even after doing fantastically well at school. I was jobless, yet obstinate - wouldn't teach, no no no😭. Don't get it twisted, I love teaching but you see I have lofty dreams and this is Nigeria🤔 I felt hurt and aimless, I even grew some stress grey hairs (still growing em, but good stress this time😲). Then I saw online a costly training by a renowned job company themed "training2job", I jumped to pay the exorbitant fee for an alien digital marketing training - the "job" was a bait😟 I didn't get the job but I caught the digital marketing virus💪🏾 After the nice but generic 1 month training, I was hooked. I knew I had nothing - it was not enough😔. So I bought a lifetime subscription of Shaw Academy on an amazing discount, did a graphics design🎨 training and a not-so-advanced digital marketing program. Got a not-so digital marketing intern job where I learnt humility and patience😁. The salary was tiny but the life was fulfilling - well in a way, I learnt a whole lot thanks to Free WiFi and months of overtime😜 I'm currently holding another job - that takes a whole lot of my time😭. The salary is fair so I'm offering my expertise at steal-away prices🛒 with the hope of making my lofty dreams come true. Hey Everyone! I’m Jennifer, but you can call me Jenn. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to you & now seemed as good a time as any because I’ve got lots of free time today! Why you may ask? Well I live in Barbados & today the island is on shutdown due to an impending tropical storm named Dorian. So while we’re all safe & snug waiting it out, I thought why not share a little bit about me. So here goes! I’m a graphic designer turned pilates & yoga teacher! I know right? So how did I end up teaching pilates & yoga? Pretty much the same way I became a graphic designer, by accident! Yep! True story! I never knew I wanted to teach pilates or yoga. It all happened quite unexpectedly. I first started taking pilates classes for my back as I suffered from major back pain. It helped me so much I wanted to do more & learn more. I also realised how much I enjoyed helping other students in class. I enjoyed it so much that when the chance came to become certified, I grabbed it without even thinking about it. Soon after an opportunity came my way to certify in yoga & I became a level 1 yoga teacher. It wasn’t until I completed my full 200hr YTT that I fully appreciated yoga! It has helped me to improve the relationship I have with myself, others & I want to share that with everybody! So much so it became the catalyst for my philosophy which is to be free, be true & always be you! I’m inspired daily by my students/clients who are working towards self love, self acceptance, self realisation, basically improving the overall quality of life through movement! It’s why I keep doing what I do! I could go on & on for hours about this, but let’s just say, I’m here to share with you random thoughts about random things, exercises & yoga flows, quirky moments with my cats & more.
