Installing Linux By Hand
So my HDD crapped out on me. I managed to dd /home onto a new hard drive but the rest is gone. I dutifully wrote a liveUSB, booted from it and ran the install script, but something failed in the middle, after sorting out the partitions.
There isn't much information about what to do in this situation, or rather there are instructions for each stage of the process but nothing enumerating what those stages are. Thus this post which i'll be reblogging from as I make progress. Expect lots of links to other documentation.
I'm running fedora but this should proooobably be fairly common to modern linux installs booting from UEFI via GRUB2.
