I don't think wishlist is problematic per se but imo it comes off as pretty tone deaf and lacking in self awareness. I love taylor to bits but saying that "THEY want a fat ass with a baby face and an oscar on the bathroom floor, but I don't want that I want a simple life with the man I'm in love with" comes across as pretty rich when she's getting actively fillers and intends to make her directorial debut soon. Like girl look in the mirror
And I think thats the point! "tone deaf amd hot lets fucking off her" "all the boys and their expensive cars. With their Range Rovers and their Jaguars. Never took me quite where you do" Taylor has access to these luxuries in a way most of society doesnt and she is SO aware. And she doesn't care because deep down she wants human connection. She knows this is deeply unrelatable in a time when so many people are struggling but that is the life of a showgirl ā¢ļø . The material things are all exaggerations of any material goods you may want. Shes saying money cant buy happiness. Which yeah, money can make life much better. But for her and her life money is nice but not the most important thing. And yes! This whole album is unrelatable which is why its so interesting as a story. We have so much context on taylor and her history from interviews and all her previous albums so everything on this album makes so much sense for her and I cannot fault her for living life through the circumstances she was given.
