Subliminalbo's 2025 Recap
7. Quick Hits #33: Deliquesce
Published: December 24th, 2025 Series: N/A Characters: Taylor Byrne, Ana Marino End Credits Vibe: "The Aftermath of Love" by Lalo Schifrin
Bad Synopsis: On a spa day with her best friend, Taylor has a breakthrough about her future.
In 2022, I had a breakthrough of my own. For years I wrote these stories in a 'connected universe' on this fictional college campus, but I mostly segregated plotlines from each other. Characters from Assimilation don't show up in Obedience by Fleur stories and vice versa. This didn't make a lot of sense, especially considering the set up of the Master in Assimilation as some massively cosmic big bad who overrides all other mind controllers. It simply made sense to weave these plotlines together rather than keeping them on their own tracks.
That was the idea when I started writing Betas, an ambitious series which is still technically ongoing. I wanted to explore the world after Alphas, in which former sisters are recovering from their times as Madison's brainwashed slaves, all while the Master is quietly spreading among Carpenter State's population.
Listen, it's not that I've abandoned Betas. It's more that the first chapter was so exhausting to write, that I just haven't been able to bring myself to even start chapter two in the last three and a half years. I'm sure it will rock when I get to it. In the meantime, I've been conscious about the fact that I've created all of these characters for that series who are just sitting there, waiting to be written.
Many of you probably know that I wrote Deliquesce as a story request in the aftermath of asking for donations to cover the legal bills for my in-laws, who were abducted a week before Christmas. It was a surprisingly easy project, especially considering that I really didn't have a Christmas this last year. I used that opportunity to play around with these underused characters too, and maybe, longshot, inspire myself to pick up Betas again in 2026.
I was thankful for the request and happy to end the year with something that came together so easily. I really do enjoy writing these stories and being with these characters. I hope you all do too.

6. Quick Hits #32: Iconic
Published: September 19th, 2025 Series: Alphas Characters: Demi Snyder, Gracie Garcia, Angelica Monroe End Credits Vibe: "I Saw the Sign" by Ace of Base
Bad Synopsis: Demi entertains interest from another sorority.
I'm coming to terms with the fact that the Alphas will likely be my legacy in the mind control smut community. It's not that I don't like the series or the concepts inside of it, it's more so embarrassing how so much of the original series is undercooked. Most of my favorite ideas in Alphas are retrofitted, only considered years after the original series ended in 2019. You're not in my head, so you can't possibly understand the feeling I have when I think back to that time and consider just how lazy I was, driven only by the desire to produce content. I didn't think about these stories as actual stories, but quick posts to get some favorites.
I still do it a little bit for the favorites, but at least I proofread now.
The weirdest thing about the original Alphas series is just how little we see of life inside of the Alpha house. The Alphas are the most interesting aspect of the series, but in 2016 I was totally incurious about them.
That's changed in the proofreading era. Most of my Alphas stories now center on life inside of the house, and I think there are a lot more stories to explore there. That's why writing things like Iconic is so fun for me. Each Alphas Quick Hit is another opportunity to be a fly on the wall inside that cursed house. Iconic didn't fully click with me until I started writing the scene in the living room, but I built momentum from there.
I struggled a lot with the ending. Originally, I wanted it to close on a now brainwashed Demi presenting herself to Madison for the first time. I imagined the story being kind of like Apocalypse Now. Demi's tour takes her deeper into the depraved depths of the Alphas house, much like Captain Willard's journey up river, and at the end of both is a charismatic leader who has gone mad with power.
In another ending, I had Demi, Tamika, and Antonia cleaning up after the night's party as they casually tease each other into mindless group sex. This was a more comical ending but still explored the counterintuitive decisions that Alpha pledges make. Girls join the Alphas because they want to be a part of the fun, but ultimately they're just slaves for Madison to use. The new girls don't get to party. They have to clean up.
But I dunno, maybe it's just smut.
Just a lil inside baseball...
I started writing the next chapter of Lacey's Story last November, but I got overwhelmed and switched to the second chapter of Alphas in December.
In January, I wrote This Thing Inside Her as a stop gap, then began working on another "Quick Hit" in March about Dr. Fielding's origins.
In May, when that became overwhelming, I wrote Tabbie and Channel 12 as stop gaps for the stop gap.
In June, I started another Quick Hit, this one in the Assimilation series, but that became even more overwhelming than the Fielding thing which led me to write Mona. If we're keeping score, that's a stop gap for the stop gap for the stop gap.
Last week, I started on an Alphas Quick Hit but my brain took me to a spooky haunted cabin story instead. So I wrote that, finished it, but then I realized it's a fucking perfect Halloween special and I'm a month early and can't even fucking post it!
And this whole time my mind is telling me, "You can get back to writing Lacey's Story as soon as you finish the Dr. Fielding thing."
10 Years Of Subliminalbo
Assimilation Party
Started Sometime After February 2016, never published
No one knew what it was, where it came from, or what it wanted. A biological weapon, a visitor from outer space, a creature from another dimension? There was no sense asking, because anyone who even knew about the creature in the forest had already joined its colony. Nobody knew its name. The assimilated called it âMaster.â Its hosts walked among us, unaware that they had even been assimilated until their Master called upon them to assimilate more.
The girls of Beta Phi Alpha were a good example of the Masterâs efficiency.
Ana had suspected something when Emmy returned home late from work the evening before. She had a distant stare in her eyes and her clothes were filthy. As president of the sorority, Ana felt it was her business to know everything that was going on in the lives of her sisters. She confronted Emmy at door: âWhere have you been?â
âWork,â Emmy muttered as she tried moving by Ana. Her answer only made Ana more annoyed. Emmy was punctual, and she never wasted time after work chatting. She was obviously hiding something, and Ana was not going to let her keep it a secret.
âIs it a guy?â Ana asked.
âWork,â Emmy repeated.
âHave you been doing drugs?â Ana demanded, studying Emmyâs eyes for tell-tale signs. Emmy didnât reply. She shuffled by her sorority sister and began to ascend the stairs. Ana reached out and grabbed Emmyâs wrist. âHey!â Ana shouted. âI asked you a question! What happened to your clothes?â
Anaâs aggression seemed to snap Emmy from her daze. The young womanâs eyes cleared up, and the dull expression on her face spread into her typically cheerful smile.
âIâm sorry, Ana,â Emmy said. âI just a had a terrible day. We were swamped at work, and I got a complaint from one of the customers, so Jeff docked my pay. And then on top of that, I tripped on the way home and fell right into a pile of dirt,â she gestured dramatically over her clothes. âI just want to get in bed and never wake up.â
âA pile of dirt?â Ana repeated with a skeptical squint. âAlright,â she sighed. âGet a shower first, you look terrible.â
If Ana had known why Emmy was acting so strange, if she knew what was inside of her sister, she might have had the foresight to run away. But Ana was lucky that nightâthe only thing keeping Emmy from spreading the Master to her was that she already had a target. Emmy didnât shower. She returned to her bedroom where she found her roommate sleeping roommate.
âEmmy?â Gloria released a quiet gasp when she awoke to find her roommate on the bed above her, looking down with bright, empty white eyes and a sinister smile. It was the last thought Gloria had before the Masterâs voice entered her mind. She submitted to her assimilation without a fight.
With the Masterâs power at their disposal, Emmy and Gloria made short work of their remaining sisters. Gloria cornered Stephanie in the shower. Despite her protests as Gloria slid the door open and stepped onto the wet ceramic, Stephanieâs will washed away like the water rolling down her back. Marcy surprised Emmy by putting up an actual fight against their Masterâs mental domination, even as Destiny and Amber, sitting on the couch opposite her in the living room, slipped immediately under its power. Marcy had tried to run, but the voices were enough to paralyze her. She could only beg as Emmy slipped a black liquid-coated finger into her mouth, beginning Marcyâs transformation into another host.
By the end of the next night, most of the sorority had been assimilatedâeveryone except for Ana. She came home that evening to find her sisters waiting for her, each lined up nude in the foyer with their vacant expressions.
Ana wanted to run, but a voice in her head told her to stay. She couldnât fight it.
The pleasure of surrendering to the voice was intoxicating, but Ana was stronger willed than any of her sisters. She pleaded, even as the voice drove her arousal to its absolute limit. Her knees buckled and her sisterâs swarmed her, tearing off her clothes. Ana moaned as mob of hands and tongues explored her body.
âHer moans betray her pleas,â Marcy laughed.
âShe loves it,â Gloria observed.
âShe can fight all she wants, but the seed is in her mind,â Amber said.
âAnd soon the Masterâs physical form will fill her up,â Destiny finished.
âAna,â Emmy spoke softly, gently running her fingers through her friendâs hair. âThis is only a fraction of the pleasure youâll feel when the Master inside of you. I know youâre scared, but once you accept it, youâll understand.
âJoin us,â the sisterâs echoed.
âPlease!â Ana cried. To her credit, she fought to the very end. But once the Master was inside of her, once the physical change took hold, her buckled.
âYesssâŚâ Ana whimpered. âMy body is assimilated. I belong to the colony.â
The sisters could only smile. In a single day, the Master had assimilated the entire sorority, and it was only growing more powerful.
Though hosts would join the Masterâs hive mind, they didnât lose their personalities entirely. Leaders are leaders and followers are followers, and Ana Marino was one of the most prominent leaders in the student community. She quickly proved her worth in the colony, taking charge of her sisters to make more slaves for the Master.
Assimilation was the only thing the Master knew, its methods were effective but crude. But its human hosts could think critically. Combined with the Masterâs power and its desire to grow, it was the perfect parasite-host relationship. It didnât take Ana-host long to find her first big conquest.
The rivalry between Beta Phi Alpha and Alpha Delta Theta had a long history at Carpenter State, but Ana had escalated the rivalry to new heights. The opportunity to humiliate, dominate, and ultimately assimilate the girls of Alpha Delta Theta was too good to pass up. The Master didnât inhibit Anaâs prejudices when it benefited the colony. In the end, as long as there were more hosts, it didnât matter how Ana and her sisters got the job done.
Ana had once been good friends with Alpha Delta Thetaâs president, Madison Wells, but the two girls were so competitive that quickly grew to despise each other. But things didnât turn personal until Ana found herself in competition with Madison for the same boy. Their rivalry exploded, and they dragged all of their sorority sisters into it.
This was Anaâs plan: every Halloween, Madison threw a massive Halloween party. The events were originally quite modest, but in the great sorority arms race, Madison was always desperate to impress. Ana had tried to compete with the Alphasâ party in past years, but it was one place that Madison had always owned the edge. Now, Ana saw the expected turnout, an âeveryone whoâs anyoneâ type of event, as the perfect opportunity for her MasterâŚand a little bit for revenge.

Unfortunately I've lost the original document that I was writing Assimilation Party in, so I can't say for certain when I started writing it. What I know is that it was my followup to the first few chapters of Assimilation. Assimilation was a huge step for me. It was my first time breaking away from the stupid Victoria's Secret mind control conspiracy stuff that I had started with on Deviantart, an attempt to build something in an entirely fictional world and play around a bit with some light cosmic horror. I was really excited when I churned out those first couple of chapters, and I wanted to follow them up with something big. So we get Assimilation Party.
My plan for Assimilation Party was to publish it as a genuine short story. I wanted to write something that was longer-form, featuring dozens of characters across a handful of plot threads. I think the plan was to get it out by Halloween 2016 as a sort of holiday special, and when I missed that window I kind of just abandoned it and moved on to other Assimilation stories.
Some fun trivia about the full unpublished story is that it features pre-Alphas Madison Wells and Corbin Arroyo, who had both existed in my head for a while before I finally found footing with them in that series. Remember that this was written before Alphas was even a concept, so this iteration of Madison Wells was just kind of a super bitch instead of a super bitch who is also like, one of the greatest mind controllers on the planet. Corbin also wasn't a blogger, she was a straight up student private detective who was cartoonishly paranoid about mind control conspiracies. Assimilation Party would have been written after Assimilation #3, which has since been retconned, but features Corbin and her roommate Kelly, who is revealed to have been assimilated at some point offscreen. Assimilation Party started as a short story that would reveal how Kelly was assimilated.
Ultimately, I think I made the right decision in shelving this one. The biggest issue I have with it is that big opening paragraph that seeks to explain in some way what the Master is. I actually cut a lot out of this before uploading it here where I dive into the mechanics of the hive mind and the abilities that the assimilated have because the mystery is the Master's power over the reader. Now the story's just an interesting piece of development history for me. I like how you can see me sort of struggling with the terminology of everything. This was before I'd settled on the term "vessels" for the Master's assimilated victims and arc words like, "All life surrenders to the Master." There's also a weird lack of assimilating in it? Like a lot of characters get assimilated in this piece but I just breeze by how and barely explain the black liquid that is the Master's literal physical form. Kind of amazing how much better I got at writing smut when I started having actual sex. A wild concept, I know.
The first chapter of Assimilation Party was itself an adaptation of this caption that I made. Betas #1: The Formless Voice is another attempt at adapting the same caption, but in a wildly more ambitious way than Assimilation Party. It's one of my favorite things I've ever written so give it a look if you haven't?

There's this Goosebumps 2000 book that I read when I was ten years old called Invasion of the Body Squeezers. It's actually a two parter and literally nothing happens in the first book, but Part 2 features a full-scale alien invasion where our main character's family, friends, and teachers are possessed by these aliens that come out of meteorites. Y'know, like baby's first Invasion of the Body Snatchers. I'm pretty sure it was my second ever encounter with mind control after Ghostbusters.
I'm never going to do a full Subliminalbo Scale for Rating Mind Control In Media review of it because it's a children's book about children but look at some of these excerpts and tell me why it's so fucking formative for a future mind control kink writer.
In this scene, protagonist Jack goes to his principal to warn that the science teacher has been possessed by an alien (this is actually a very funny and childish response to an alien invasion tbh, run to the principal). Note that alien hosts develop stutters (hence the random t-ts in dialogue) and have goo bubbling out of their ears.
"Youâyou talked to Mr. Liss this morning?" I choked out, moving sideways toward the office door. Mrs. Berkman nodded. A strange smile crossed her face. Her pale eyes appeared to roll in her head. She clicked her tongue several times. "Mr. Liss and I had a nice talk before the students started to arrive," she said. "He's such a nice man. T-t." "Heâhe hugged you!" I accused. I slid another step closer to the door. She nodded again, her blond hair bouncing on top of her head. She stretched out her hands. Long silver nails shot out from her fingers. "It doesn't hurt, Jack," she whispered. "You want to be one of usâdon't you?" "No!" I screamed. "No way! I don't! I want to be me!" She kicked a triangle of glass out of her way. "We need your body, Jack. We need a lot of bodies. T-t-t." Green bubbles bobbed from her ears.
Later, Jack locks himself in his house after two of his friends try to convert him. Two more friends, Maddy and Marsha, beg him to let them inside.
"What's wrong?" I asked them. "You both look really frightened." "It's Henry and Derek," Maddy replied, glancing outside the window. "They were acting so strange." Marsha shuddered. "I hope they didn't follow us." "What did they do?" I asked. "They were talking funny," Maddy replied, pushing down her frizzy hair with one hand. "They didn't sound like themselves at all."
While the two girls recount their encounter with their possessed friends, a meteor shower begins to rain glowing rocks down on the streets.
My mouth dropped in amazement as I watched the shower of orange rocks. Like an orange hailstormâdozens and dozens of themâcrashing onto our block. My heart pounding, I turned to Marsha and Maddy. I expected to see expressions of fear and amazement on their faces. I didn't expect to find them smiling! "It's about t-t-t time they got here," Maddy said. "Yeah. What kept them?" Marsha replied. They both turned to me, eyes wide and glowing. "Out friends have t-t- arrived," Marsha said. "Don't try to run, Jack," Maddy added. "You're outnumbered now."
Okay, so, don't go out and read this book. Like I said, it's a children's book for children. Goosebumps quality varied wildly in its original sixty-two volume run and I'm not sure if there was a single good entry in the 2000 series. Most of Invasion of the Body Squeezers is Jack running around shouting "you too?!" when he discovers someone has been possessed. The book is downright awful.
But these excerpts here? These stuck with me. The school authority figure who uses their power to spread their Master, the friend who was one of them the whole time. These ideas have stuck with me for most of my life and it's a high that I'm still chasing.
Going over the edges of the eyes with the blur tool will make or break a white eyes manip. A lot of hypnomanippers overdo it and the result is this really foggy look around the edges. You only need it to be at about 15% strength to get the eyes to blend in with the rest of the image. It's something that I only started doing in the last couple of years but it's made a really big difference.
As much as I tried, I couldn't think of a better term than flesh puppet for brainwashed by space noise babes. Was literally on the thesaurus for like three days trying to make something work.
Anyway, I've been trying to challenge myself to lay off on some of the more oversaturated mind control story vocabulary. It's not so much that I think master, mistress, slave, et cetera are cliche, but more that I want these terms to be more contextual. Like, Master isn't exactly a word that I think an entity from space would self-apply, nor would it be likely to refer to humans as slaves.
In my head, "flesh puppet" isn't literally the term that The Messenger is using for human converts, but more so that it's conceptually the closest thing in the English language to the aggressively not human words in its Message.
