hey this is p mundane so dw if you've written a version of it before, but what about foggy coming home to find matt asleep with mary (also asleep) on his chest? that'd really butter my eggroll (hope you feel better soon <3)
Foggy’s got this habit of talking before he’s even made it to the front door of their apartment because he knows that Matt will hear him, but he’s trying to break it—partially because he’s received some strange looks from their neighbors and he’s pretty sure that they think that Matt is his fictional, invisible husband but mostly because he misses the chance to see this by waking them up. Matt sprawled out on his back on their couch with Mary curled up on his chest with her tiny hands curled loosely in Matt’s t-shirt.
Matt’s got one hand resting on her back so she won’t fall. He’s so careful with her. She’s actually never going to learn to walk because Matt barely lets her feet touch the ground, but they’ll work on that.
He moves quietly to look closer. They’re both visibly drooling.
Foggy loves them so much that he can barely deal with it some days.
He goes into the bedroom and, by the time he’s changed into pajamas and brushed his teeth, Matt’s already awake. He smiles sleepily at Foggy, sitting up carefully and holding Mary in her arms, careful not to wake her. A sleeping Mary is not something to take for granted. Their sleep deprivation rivaled the weeks following up to the bar exam the first month after they adopted her.
“Have fun?” Matt murmurs, turning to accept a kiss when Foggy settles down next to him.
“It was mostly surrendering my phone to Karen so she could look at baby pictures all night,” Foggy says, “but I like bragging about how our daughter is the best baby and could beat up all the other babies.”
“No,” Matt says, laughing softly, turning it to a hum when Mary stirs. “No baby fights.”
“We’ve got to start her young if she’s going to take up your mantle when you’re all old and decrepit.”
“I’m never getting old,” Matt says. “We don’t have to worry about that.”
“Sounds good to me,” Foggy says, leaning his head against Matt’s.
