DROGON NEVER CONSIDERED HIMSELF A MONSTER. he simply was-- in the same way as humans and the earth and sky was. an existing object in the world. MONSTER was something that was not unknown to him ; the nickname had trailed along him just as sure as his FIRE had done the same as it ripped from his jaws. no, drogon was not a TRUE MONSTER.
until, of course, his mother was AFRAID OF HIM. it had never happened this way before, and drogon was careful to remember this particular incident. his wings moved as SPEAR was drug from tender skin beneath SCALES. he did not know who had begun to rip it here and now, and so his head tilted. WITHOUT WAITING, he turned to the offender and roared. it must have been a TERRIFYING thing, he thought afterwards, to see his teeth BARED with human flesh between each fang-- his breath hot with fire ( and BLOOD ! how much blood there was to spew with each SCREECH ). as his eyes focus, he could see his mother.
HE HAD NEVER MEANT TO CAUSE HER FEAR. he was meant to drive such things OUT OF HER MEMORY. the word dracarys was meant to bring nothing but progress for his mother-- not fear, as now seemed to be the CASE. he knew, truly, that his mother would FEIGN calm. she stood her ground, as she should have. as drogon’s eyes blink and HEAD edges downwards to her outstretched palm. HER EYES HAD BEEN FEARFUL.
her child was a MONSTER-- drogon was beginning to realize this. it would not be easily forgotten.
