Day 31 - #alterego It took me longer than I wanted but here is my last #whynoctober2018 piece! I'll be doing my final thoughts and highlights in a separate post, but i have some contemplation with this one in particular. . . Is it a finished painting by my inktober standards? Yes. Is it a finished painting? No. The last week of inktober was tough, with struggles to get back on schedule and some health issues and other factors as well. After getting over those obstacles and even though I had accepted I would be posting several pieces late, most of my art-challenge adrenaline had been knocked out and getting back to work felt sluggish and disconnected. It occurred to me that this was less of a scheduling issue and that I seem to have a yearly trend of sort of post-inktober depression (that sounds dramatic but I feel like is a common reaction after any sort of success). The concept for Alter Ego was one I was looking forward to all month and I wanted to put a lot of care into making it a polished work. Which is why I had the idea of posting it now. It is finished for inktober but instead of bringing the project to a sudden final close, I will continue to work on this painting. It feels anti-climatic and non traditional to the challenge but I think it will help me in carrying over the confidence and drive built up over the month into new working habits. . . I'M DONE!!
