Four of my favourite photos taken in April 2025 of Green Hairstreak at Magdalen Hill Down, early purple orchid at Noar Hill, Long-tailed Ducks at Peedie Sea and view at Inganess.
From Duke of Burgundy butterfly to soaring Hen Harriers, from Hedgehog to Red Squirrel, April has been another marvellous wild month for me with so much seen. Following the brilliant Scotland trip to end the month and a very productive Easter Weekend I’ve seen more bird species than I ever have at this stage of a year, reaching 200 species seen in a year on my earliest ever date in a year which is amazing. Other highlights across the board include Tree Pipit, Little Tern, Great Skua, Garden Warbler, Peregrine, Green Hairstreak, Green-veined White, Orange Tip, Speckled Wood, Scarce Tissue, Hebrew Character, Pine Beauty, Glow Worm, Green Tiger beetle, Bloody-nosed beetle, wood anemone, wild garlic, early purple orchid, bluebells, greater stitchwort, bitter vetch, garlic mustard, and cuckooflower.
