If you think that changing the face on the twenty dollar bill has anything to do with racial or gender equality - let me tell you some things and give you a moment to reassess that notion. In 1833, before Second Bank of the United States's charter expired, President Andrew Jackson removed the government funds as part of the Bank War, and the United States went without a central bank for 40 years. President Jackson's last words were, "I killed the bank." President John F. Kennedy's Executive Order 11110 was an effort by to transfer power from the Federal Reserve to the United States Department of the Treasury by replacing Federal Reserve Notes with silver certificates. President Kennedy was assassinated soon after. "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs." - Thomas Jefferson
