You sat on the floor of the bathroom, your hand placed over your mouth in shock. The pregnancy test in your hand, clearly two lines, showing that you were indeed pregnant.
Of course you were trying, but you never knew that one round of sex would get you pregnant, you thought you wouldâve had to try at least a few times, but a missed period later, you bought a test just in case and here you were 3 weeks pregnant.
Erling was at training, you did the test in private, wanting to keep it a surprise either way, not wanting Erling to be disappointed, but now you knew he wouldnât have anything to be disappointed about.
You were pregnant with his baby.
Now was just the plan to surprise him, hundreds of thoughts raced in your mind, trying to think of one to help your thoughts. The plans of buying a Manchester City kit with Daddy 9 on the back was the best you could think of, and you knew it would melt his heart with the gesture.
Quickly you got yourself dressed, heading down to the apartment car park, making a plan of which shops you needed to go to, all before Erling would get back from training, which was only 2 hours. You set off for the City Store, deciding on buying the kit first.
Once everything had been done, you set off for the nearest supermarket, buying a cute gift bag alongside a card. It didnât take long for you to get back home and prepare yourself for what was coming in the next half an hour. You had multiple feelings racing through your body, nerves, excitement and strangely enough, butterflies. It didnât feel real that you were pregnant. Both of your schedules were too busy for you to even get a quick moment together alone since the last time, but it all worked out so well.
You didnât even click at what time it was until you heard the front door open. You quickly sighed before finishing up and putting the bag next to your side of the bed. Panic was now racing through your veins at telling him. You knew this was what he wanted as he insinuated it first, but that didnât stop your palms from sweating.
âIâm home loveâ You heard Erling shout, his voice getting louder as he wandered down the hallway.
âIn the bedroomâ You shouted back, before you saw the doorknob turning, the door opening slowly, exposing your large boyfriend. A smile plastered onto his face. You smiled back at him before he wandered into the room, closing the door again and sat himself down next to you. Luckily he hadnât noticed the bag on the floor next to you. You sat back against the headboard, your legs outstretched, as Erling sat next to you, a large hand on your thigh, his thumb circling on your skin.
âMissed youâ He spoke softly, leaning forward to press a small kiss to your lips. âSorry I havenât seen much of you recently, itâs been so hectic with games and all the training, day off tomorrow if you want to go out somewhere nice togetherâ He carried on.
âThat sounds perfect Erling, Iâd love toâ You replied with a smile. âBut for now Iâve got a surprise for youâ You spoke, preparing yourself for the news. Erling cocked an eyebrow at you. âJust go sit down in the living room and Iâll be there in just a minuteâ You ushered him out of the room. Erling mumbled a quick âOkayâ followed by a nervous laugh as he walked down to the living room.
You turned around, grabbing the bag from beside the bed, quickly writing the card and putting it inside the bag, next to the white gift box. You made your way down to the living room, Erling sitting on the sofa, his eyes struck up to you as he felt your presence. You sat yourself down next to him, placing the bag on the floor, Erling trying to take a peek inside the bag, however he was disappointed when you quickly covered it.
âEyes closed please Erlâ You spoke, Erling knew to hold his hands out too, something he always told you to do when he was giving you a surprise. You first picked the card out, placing the small envelope in his large hands. âYou can open your eyes now loveâ You say back, leaning your side on the back of the sofa. Erling kept his eyes on the envelope as he opened it. The picture on the front of the card wasnât anything special, however it just said âCongratulationsâ. Erling opened the card, the inside reading:
âTo Daddy,
I canât wait to meet you soon!
Love ?â
Erlingâs expression was full of confusion, his eyes scanning your face and then the words on the card once again. You were quick to grab the gift box from the bag, a small white square box with a beautiful silver ribbon on the top. You passed it over to him, taking the card in exchange and placing it on the coffee table.
Erling was slow to untie the ribbon and lift the lid from the box. He quickly saw the sky blue of the city kit, lifting it up and holding the small material in his hands, looking at the tiny shirt, turning it over. His heart raced when he saw the name on the back. His eyes scanned from the shirt, to your face and back again, his mouth hanging open in shock, however no words left his lips. He was too gobsmacked to speak.
âYouâre pregnant?â He finally asked, barely above a whisper, too scared his voice would fail him.
âYeah, itâs early days, but I did a test earlier on and it said 3 weeksâ You spoke back, edging a bit closer to him on the sofa.
âYouâre pregnant!â He repeated, however this time a smile broke out onto his face, he was quick to put down the shirt on the coffee table, and quickly moving down next to you, pulling you into him. âThank youâ He spoke, wrapping his arms around you, your arms snaked around his shoulders, pulling him into you. The nerves of the day finally dissipating, leaving you with nothing but excitement. Tears pricked at your eyes at his embrace, feeling overwhelmed with everything. You pulled away from the hug moments later, noticing tears trickling down Erlingâs cheeks. Your hands cupped his cheeks, your thumbs swiping the tears away. You leant in kissing the tip of his nose.
âWeâre going to be parents, Erlingâ You whispered, leaning your forehead against his. Erlingâs hands held your hips, his thumb rubbing circles into your skin, a smile broke out onto his face again, not being able to keep it in him.
âWe are, youâre gonna be the best mama to our babyâ His words sent shivers down your spine and a blush rise to your cheeks, butterflies swarmed your belly.
âOur babyâ You repeated, smiling as his words ran through your head. âOur baby will be so lucky to have you as their daddy Erlingâ You spoke, pressing a chaste kiss to his lips.
âI still canât believe it, Iâm so happyâ He replied, smiling into the kiss.
*2 months later
Erling had an unexpected day off from training, he was bound to spend the whole day with you, just doing nothing, you both needed it, you didnât get an easy first 2 months of pregnancy, the morning sickness way beyond the extent you wouldâve thought, every morning you woke up, a wave of nausea running through you, and today was no different.
You had once again woken up before the crack of dawn, the nausea taking over you suddenly, making you jump from your warm bed, stepping straight to the bathroom, falling to your knees over the toilet, your forearms resting on the toilet seat, you rested your head on your bicep, closing your eyes as you felt your heart begin to race, head spinning as you tried to relax yourself.
Erling woke up to the noise of the bathroom door opening, he knew this now, it was a daily routine. He got himself out of bed, making a beeline to the bathroom, noticing your figure hunched over the toilet. He was quick to sit down next to you, a large hand on your back, stroking up and down. You sighed at his touch, silently thanking him once again.
âY/N love, I told you to wake me upâ He spoke softly.
âI felt bad, it's your first day off in weeksâ You replied slowly, not wanting to rush your voice in case.
âThat doesn't matter, what matters is that you're okay, I told you I'd do anything to help you through thisâ He replied, pressing a kiss to your shoulder. You relaxed into his touch, finally settling yourself. You leant your head onto your other forearm, sighing through your nose, trying to focus on your breathing and not the nausea. However before you could focus again, a wave of nausea hit you suddenly, making you rise to your knees, emptying out your stomach into the toilet once again. Erling was quick to pull your hair out of your face, making a makeshift ponytail with his hand, his other hand rubbing up and down your back soothingly.
You sank back onto the floor once you had done, feeling relieved but exhausted, you rested your head onto Erlingâs shoulder, thanking him for being there for you once again.
After a few moments of sitting in silence, Erling helped you up from the ground, letting you know that he was taking you out for a coffee and a walk in a while. You thanked him again before letting yourself get ready, deciding on making an effort. You took your time getting ready, making sure that you chose a nice outfit, and doing your hair to make you feel better about yourself.
You stood facing the mirror as you got dressed, pulling on a pair of leggings, you turned to the side, quickly noticing something that you hadnât noticed yet, due to you wearing nothing but baggy clothes to keep yourself comfy. Your bump had started to grow and you had no idea. You were quick to shout Erling, who came racing up the stairs at your call.
âY/N? Is everything okay?â He asked quickly as he flung the bedroom door open.
âCome and have a look for yourselfâ You smiled to yourself, turning again in the mirror so your belly was more prominent. Erling paced into the dressing room, looking at you, before looking at you through the mirror, his jaw dropping as he saw the small bump that had grown. âTheyâve finally made their appearance, Erlingâ You smiled at your boyfriend, who stepped closer to you.
Erling was speechless as he came closer, his hands reaching out for you, he was quick to step behind you, your back resting against his chest, his hands soothing over the small bump. He could finally feel your swollen belly, his eyes brimmed with tears. Your hand came to rest on top of his, your eyes diverting from your belly to the mirror, the love of your life standing behind you, his whole world in his hands, you and your baby.
âI canât believe itâ He smiled, resting his chin on your shoulder. âI told you youâd look so pretty pregnantâ He smirked, leaving a kiss on your cheek. You couldnât help but smile at his comment, the feeling of being pregnant and carrying his baby feeling all too real now. âI love youâ He spoke, before letting go of you, and stepping to face you before sinking to his knees. âAnd I love you little oneâ He spoke, littering kisses all over your belly.
âWe love you so much, Erlingâ You spoke with a smile plastered on your face.
Before you knew it, you were 5 months along, Erling taking you to the hospital for your next scan, in which you would find out your babyâs gender. You had decided to keep it private, letting the nurse write down what the gender was, and you had given the envelope to your mum, who was organising your gender reveal. You had both decided on letting your and Erlingâs mum decide on what they wanted to do. Pep had let you use the pitch to do your reveal on, that was including Erling begging him to do so, Pep allowed him as long as he got an invite himself to come and watch. You had laughed at that comment when Erling told you, however you were more than happy to do so, along with his idea of inviting all of his teammates, they all loved you, and being friends with their girlfriends made it so much easier for you.
Your bump had now grown more and was more restricting than what you had first expected, however that didnât make anything change, you loved how your baby was growing, you even got told that anytime soon you would be able to feel your baby kick. Which sent warmth all through your body, excitement kicking in at being able to feel your baby respond to you.
A few days had passed and it was finally time for your reveal, you wore a white summer dress and Erling dressed in black dress pants and a white button up shirt.
The turnout to your reveal was not expected in the slightest, all of the boys had managed to come in on their days off and some had brought along their girlfriends with them, knowing how much you got along with them. You went around and said your helloâs to everyone before. You all walked down to the pitch, where you finally saw what you werenât expecting. Two large illuminated words stating âGirlâ and âBoyâ in the middle of the pitch. Blue and pink balloons decorated the words. In the middle of the words stood a podium with a button on the top. You took your place with Erling at the button.
You suddenly felt nervous with the amount of eyes on you as you scanned the pitch before meeting Erlingâs eyes, who unexpectedly were already looking at you. You sent him a smile which he could tell was a nervous one. His hand latched onto yours, holding it over the button, you both spoke in synchronisation from 10 downwards, before pressing down onto the button. A loud pop was heard before you looked up, the smoke rockets setting off, the fireworks flying into the air, the colour of pink illuminating the sky. You were pulled into Erlingâs embrace, his lips pressed against your own. The sound of cheers behind you. You were having a perfect baby girl.
A week after your reveal, you felt the pain of hitting 5 months, the constant headache, the back pain and discomfort of the belly which was still growing with every passing day. You were due tonight to be at the Etihad to watch Erling play, in which he was making sure that you sat in his box, away from the normal seats to ensure nothing happened to your baby. However you currently sat at home, sprawled on the sofa. The headache making you sink further into the sofa, your eyes closed, trying to make some pain go away. Erling was in the bedroom, getting himself changed into his Man City travel kit. It didnât take him long to get changed, meeting you back in the living room to say goodbye until he saw you again that night.
âErling, would you be able to get me some painkillers?â You asked as you heard him coming into the living room. He spoke a quick âof courseâ before making his way to the kitchen to grab you two painkillers along with some water. He brought them into you, meeting you as you lay on the sofa still.
âCausing you some pain is she?â He spoke, a frown on his face.
âApparently her favourite thing to doâ You replied with a smile. Erling didnât smile in response, if anything his frown was more prominent, he felt awful that you were going through all the pain alone. He passed you over the painkillers and the water, asking you to sit up and take them.
âYou donât have to be there tonight, if you donât feel up to itâ He spoke, a large hand resting on your bump.
âNo, Iâll be there, just need a nap I think, but donât you worry, I wonât miss out on seeing you playâ You replied, your hand resting on top of his. âPlus, how are you going to dedicate your goals to me if I'm sat here?â You smiled, in which Erlingâs face broke out into a smirk.
âThatâs a very good point kjĂŚre, Iâve got something special planned for my girlsâ He spoke, your stomach breaking out in butterflies at his words, a blush spread across your cheeks. He noticed your flushed state, leaning forward and giving you a long kiss. âMy girlsâ He spoke as he pulled away, leaning down and pressing a longing kiss to your belly. âIâll ring Dad now and ask him to come and pick you up at around half 6? Is that okay?â He asked, standing up from the sofa.
âThatâs perfect, thank you, Iâll wait for you in the box after the gameâ You smiled again, Erling was quick to lean down again, giving you another kiss before making his way out of the house. Not long after you received a message from Alfie, telling you that he was going to pick you up. You replied with âthank youâ before closing your eyes for another hour.
By the time you woke up it was half 5, you got yourself up, the headache now long gone. You silently thanked Erling once again for getting you the painkillers. You got yourself changed, doing a bit of makeup and styling your hair, throwing one of Erlingâs city shirts on, the ones you usually wore, too small for your growing belly these days, Erlingâs fit you comfortably. You put a jacket on top, hiding your belly as much as you could, as the fans had no idea yet about it. Thatâs what the plan was tonight.
Before you knew it, the doorbell was ringing. You quickly put your shoe on, before making your way down the hall again, opening the door, Alfie stood on the other side, a smile on his face as you gave him a quick hug. You grabbed your keys off the side, following Alfie out of your apartment and down to his car. Sitting in the passenger seat, the both of you talking comfortably about how everything had been going recently, Alfie parked the car in the car park, you got out and walked together from the car park to the reception. You were quick to get your passes and before you knew it you were in Erlingâs box. Taking your seat and watching the players warm up. You only had 15 minutes left until kick off. The seat next to you was taken by Astor, Erlingâs brother who welcomed you with a hug. He asked you how your pregnancy was going. You spared him the bad details but explained how everything was going. You watched as Erling blew a kiss up to you before heading back inside to get himself changed. Your heart swelling at his actions.
Soon enough, the game had kicked off and it was a battle between the two teams, Erling racing towards the goal and getting more and more frustrated as the other players lost the ball. Before you knew it, Erling had the ball at his feet, before taking a powerful strike, the ball heading for the top right corner, smashing into the netting. He was quick to run and grab the ball again, placing it under his top, his thumb in his mouth as the other hand pointed up towards where you sat. His family cheered as your heart swelling with pride. Your hand placed on your bump. And it was confirmed, the world knew about your baby. Erlings teammates jumped on him, celebrating his goal. He blew up another kiss to you before carrying on with the game.
The full time whistle had been blown, and you stepped inside of Erlingâs box, the warmth of the room taking over you. You got yourself a drink before sitting down at the table, waiting for Erling to come and meet you. Astor and Alfie said their goodbyes to you and went off before Erling came up. It wasnât long until you saw your favourite face arrive at the door, quickly opening it, he stepped inside and made a beeline for you. In which you opened your arms for him, welcoming him with a big hug.
âProud of youâ You spoke into the crook of his neck, leaving a kiss on his skin.
âThank you baby, I hope little one enjoyed itâ He replied, pulling away from the hug and resting his hand on top of your bump. âHow you feeling now? Any better than this afternoon?â He asked.
âMuch better now, my backs aching a bit but other than that, the headaches have finally worn offâ You smiled, which made Erling smile with you. He hated how you were getting all of the pain from this pregnancy and he would do anything to help ease it in the slightest way possible.
An hour later, you were finally back home, you changed your clothes for something comfier and sat back down in the living room, Erling sat in the corner of the L-shaped sofa, with you sat in between his legs, your back resting against his chest.
Erlingâs hand found its way under your hoodie, resting on your bump, his thumb stroking back and forth. A pointless movie playing on the tv, you felt yourself relax into his chest. All of a sudden, you felt a kick. Your mouth dropped in shock, turning your head to look at Erling and he had the biggest smile on his face.
âDid she just kick?â He spoke in disbelief.
âI think soâ You smiled, looking back towards your bump, lifting your hoodie up and watching your skin. There it was again, a little hand or a foot, pushing against your skin. Your eyes pricked with tears, your baby finally making herself known to the two of you. Erling couldnât believe his eyes. His mouth agape, he truly had never felt anything like it.
For months in the pregnancy, Erling and his dad took it upon themselves to decorate the spare room to be the baby's room. You were warned not to enter the room at any point, Erling wanting to keep it a surprise from you until it was finally finished.
Today was the day you were finally allowed to go into the room. Erling walked behind you, his large hand covering your eyes so you would get the whole surprise, you were in the middle of the room before Erling took his hands away from your eyes.
Your eyes adjusted to the lights around you before you got a first look, the walls painted a light grey, a giant cot sat in the room, a chair perched up in the corner of the room, facing a large window. Illuminated clouds placed neatly on the walls, a large drawer and changing table next to the cot, and another drawer set on the opposite side of the room, with teddies sat on the top of it. Your heart raced as you looked around the whole room, taking in every little detail of all of Erlings hard work. Erling stood at the door frame watching you in awe as you skimmed your fingers along the cot, watching over as you pictured your tiny daughter in there.
âDo you like it min kjĂŚreâ Erling spoke softly, slowly walking into the room, joining you.
âI love it Erling, our baby is so luckyâ You replied, turning your head, placing a soft and short kiss to his lips. You carried on wandering around the room, opening the drawer, a few tiny clothes folded up, your eyes landing on the city kit that you had bought. âIt feels so long ago, when I showed you thisâ You spoke quietly, running your fingers over the blue material.
âLook how far youâve come since you did that, I know this hasnât been easy for you, at all, but youâre doing so well, im so proud of you Y/N, our little girl will be so lucky to have you as her mamaâ Your eyes pricked at his words. âThereâs no one Iâd rather do this with, you're the only one for meâ You turned around, facing his large frame, your arms circling his waist, his own going around you, pulling you into him as much as he could.
âI can't lie to you, Erling. I'm so nervous that i won't be able to do itâ You spoke into his chest. Youâd had these thoughts for a few months now, however feeling stupid to share your thoughts with anyone. Erling pulled away, however his arms stayed around you, a confused look on his face. âI mean, what if i'm not good enough for her, I don't want to ruin anything, I'm so scared that i won't be able to do it, it's a lot to adjust to, and as much as i'm excited to meet our baby, it terrifies meâ You spoke truthfully.
âLove, why didn't you say anything, you know that I wouldâve helped you. Of course it's going to be hard, we have a whole human to look after, but I've seen you around my cousin, and he loves you, youâre amazing with him. Please min kjĂŚre, never doubt your abilitiesâ He replied, a hand trailing up to cup your cheek, his thumb stroking your skin. âI love you, please talk to me about any worries you have again, darling, I don't want to see you worrying about it allâ He leant forward, leaving kisses on your forehead, cheeks, nose and finally your lips.
By the time you knew it, you were finally at 8 months and 2 weeks. 3 weeks until your due date, and tonight was a game that you really did not want to miss. You had managed to be at all of Erlingâs home games since you were pregnant, and didnt want to miss out on this one, considering you still had your 3 weeks left.
However, all day you had a feeling that something wasnât right. Waking up early to a kick to your rib cage, you couldnt wait for this baby to be out of you. You couldnât lie, you loved being pregnant and having the feeling of a whole human growing inside of you, however recently, you didnât get one good night sleep, the constant aches and pains of it all, not being able to get comfy, or wear anything that looked reasonably nice. You were sick of it.
Erling had woken up to you, a frown on your face as you leant against the headboard. Your eyes shut as if you were trying to focus on anything but the pain in your body, Erling rubbed his eyes before sitting himself up next to you, placing his arm around your shoulder, pulling you into him.
âNot long now babyâ He spoke softly, his hand stroking up and down your arm. You sighed, resting your head on his shoulder. âYou donât have to come to the game today if you donât want to, Iâm sure one game wonât hurt meâ He spoke with a small laugh, making you smile.
âNo Erling, iâll come, itâs my last time being able to watch you for a whileâ You pouted, not wanting to miss out as you knew that deep down it would make Erling a bit upset that you werenât there to cheer him on as you always did.
âOnly if youâre 100% sureâ He spoke, looking at you, his eyes darting around your face for any uncertainty.
âIâm sureâ You spoke, your eyes meeting his, he was quick to pull you into him, sharing a soft morning kiss.
âJackâs injured at the minute, he can come and stay with you for the game, make sure nothing happens to you, Dad and Astor canât make it tonightâ Erling explained, in which you nodded and gave him a quiet âthank youâ in response. You got along well with Jack, and you knew Erling was close with him too.
Erling shifted his body, kneeling by the side of you, his hand resting on your bump, getting ready for his morning ritual of talking to his baby. Throughout your whole pregnancy, Erling told his baby all about yours and his day, every single night, your baby knew her daddyâs voice, instantly moving around to listen to his voice.
âMorning baby, me and mummy canât wait to meet you soon, only a few more weeks and we get to meet you, please be a good girl for mama tonight, keep your little feet where they should beâ He smiled, his face leaning close to your belly, your baby moving around at her daddyâs voice. âMe and your beautiful mama already love you so much babyâ He placed a kiss to your belly, as if he was kissing his little girl on her head.
âAnd I love you more beautiful mamaâ He spoke to you, his blue eyes meeting yours. A blush rising to your cheeks as his words made butterflies swarm your belly.
âI love you so muchâ You replied, resting your hand on his cheek, before pulling him into you for another kiss.
A little while later, Erling had set off for the football and you stood in the wardrobe, finding an outfit for the night. You scanned the whole room for something comfy, but something that looked nice, considering you wanted to make an effort.
By the time you were ready, Jack had pulled up to the apartment and had come to your door, you let him in, telling him youâd be 15 minutes, you left him in the living room, finding a pair of shoes.
Once you had gotten to your bedroom, that unusual feeling from the morning had returned, that same harsh pain, however in your lower stomach this time, you stood straight, holding your belly as you focused on your breathing, letting out a deep sigh as the pain dissipated after a few seconds.
You met Jack in the living room, telling him you were ready to go, locking up your door and leaving for the football.
Youâd arrived in Erlingâs box half an hour later, the both of you sitting inside as the players warmed up, you had stepped out earlier, Erling noticing you and Jack, waving up at you both and blowing a kiss in your direction, you smiled at his gesture before going back inside, sighing as you sat down. However, once again that pain came back again, stronger this time. Your eyes squeezed shut, making Jack look at you, confused.
âWoah, is everything okay?â He asked, his eyebrow cocking. He was quick to get up from one side of the box, joining you on your side. He knelt down by the side of your chair.
âIâm not sure, had a few pains come and go all day todayâ You spoke, the pain fizzling away finally.
âDoes Erling know?â He asked cautiously, and sighed when you shook your head âNoâ. âY/N, why didnât you tell him?â He asked, pinching the bridge of his nose.
âI didnât want him to worry, especially how focused he gets in the games, I don't want his head to be anywhere but this game tonightâ You explained, Jackâs hand stroked your arm.
âJust let me know if they get worse, or more frequentâ He spoke, looking at you. You looked at him confused. âY/N, little miss Haaland, may want to make her arrival very soonâ He carried on, and for the first time ever, Jack was actually making more sense than you ever wouldâve imagined. It all clicked in your head, the pains in your lower stomach, that spread through your whole body.
Not even 10 minutes into the first half, you had gotten up from your seat, going to use the bathroom. You took yourself into the toilets, sitting yourself down, however a sudden burst of water made you panic, your heart pounding. Jack was right, she was ready to come and nothing was stopping her. The pain that followed the break of water was unimaginable, your hand gripped the edge of whatever was next to you. You were quick to get up, walking back outside, Jack looked at you, however with your pale face and a nod of your head, Jack knew what was happening.
âShitâ Jack exclaimed, getting himself up and out of the seat, taking you inside as you paced the room. âAre you going to be okay if I run down to the pitch and tell Pep to sub him off?â He asked you, his voice evident with panic, in which you nodded. Jack was quick to leave the room, heading straight for the pitch. You knew that Erling loved the game, but you seriously couldnât do the whole giving birth on your own, you needed him there.
Meanwhile, Jack raced down to the pitch, he jogged down the tunnel, meeting Pep, who sat on his chair talking to the assistant manager. Pep looked at Jack with an eyebrow raised as he wasnât meant to be there for that game.
âErling needs to come off, Y/Nâs waters just brokeâ Jack spoke, his chest heaving with the heavy breaths he was taking. Pepâs eyes widened, aiding for the referee to come over and take Erling off, he pointed to Alvarez, bringing him on for him, explaining the sudden change. Jack had left, running up back to you, not wanting to leave you alone.
Erling was angry to be subbed off so quickly, and so were the fans, all of them booing and looking confused at the early substitution, Erlingâs heart racing, his mind going into overdrive with all the thoughts of what he had done wrong for Pep to take him off. He high fived Julian quickly before heading to Pep.
âWhatâve I done?â Erling spoke, his voice laced with anger.
âNo need to be angry Erling, itâs Y/N, her waters just broke up thereâ Pep spoke with a smile, pointing up to Erlingâs box. Erlingâs face dropped, panic evident in his eyes. âGo and welcome your baby into this world Erling, congratulationsâ Erling was quick to give Pep a hug. Erling was quick to run down the tunnel, into the changing rooms and changing into his tracksuit and normal shoes quicker than he had ever done, before rushing to the box.
You were sat on the chair as Erling walked in, deep in another contraction. Erlings face dropped as he saw the pain you were in. Jack sat down next to you, however as he noticed Erling, he told you that he was here now, Jack got up, giving Erling a hug, telling him that he would leave the both of you to it, Erling thanked him for looking after you.
âIâm here min kjĂŚre, how you feeling?â He spoke softly.
âNot great Erling, Iâm sorryâ You replied, a sad look on your face. âIâm sorry that I couldnât wait until after the gameâ
âOh darling, donât worry about that at all, Iâd rather be here and welcome our daughter to the world than play against Bournemouthâ He laughed, making you smile. âShall we get you to the hospital then?â He asked, helping you to get up.
âShit, Erling, what about the hospital bags, and the car seat?â You asked, panic evident in your voice.
âDonât worry, I put all that stuff in the boot a few days ago, just in case the little princess decided to make her entrance early and here we areâ He smiled, reaching for your hand, helping you walk out of the room and down to Erlingâs car.
You had arrived at the hospital not even 20 minutes later, within that time you had already had another 3 contractions. Erlingâs heart dropped with every scream that you made. You had checked in and the nurses had wheeled you to a private room, setting you up in the bed. Checking how dilated you were, in another half an hour, you would be ready to start giving birth.
Erling pulled a chair up right next to the bed, his hand instantly holding onto yours, your hand would squeeze him with every contraction you had gotten. His other hand made its way to your hair, stroking it softly every now and then.
âAre you ready?â He asked you, placing a kiss on your forehead.
âAs ready as Iâll ever be I guessâ You replied, turning your head to the side, your eyes met his, and they instantly softened.
âYouâve got this Y/N, and Iâve got you forevermore, nothing will ever change that, our baby is so lucky to have you, I'm so lucky to have youâ He spoke, your hand gripping his as another contraction took over you.
Soon enough, the nurses had made their way back into the room, and you were dilated enough to start the process. Nerves racked your body, but the sooner it started, the sooner it would be over. Erling let out a deep sigh, your eyes met his once again, nodding to him, silently letting him know that you were indeed ready. The nurse helped you get into the position, and before you knew it, you were pushing with every contraction you got. The nurses shouting that they could see her head, your heart raced. Erling was losing all the feeling in his hand, but he really didnât care. His face scrunched up seeing you in so much pain, he hated it.
âOne final push Y/N, sheâs nearly hereâ The nurse spoke.
âI canât do it Erlingâ You cried, tears streaming down your cheeks, the pain too much to handle.
âY/N, you can do it, one more push and sheâs here, youâre doing so amazing my love. Iâm so proud of youâ He spoke softly, pressing a soft kiss to your sweaty forehead, he pushed the hair out of your face, and wiped away the tears from your eyes. âYouâve got this mamaâ He promised, in which you nodded again, getting ready for the final push.
You pushed harder than you had ever done, the pain in your body up there with the worst you had ever felt, squeezing Erlingâs hand. However at the other end of the bed, you had given birth to your tiny baby. The midwife holding her in a blanket, the tiny cries from the end of the bed made your heart race. Erling watched in pure admiration, you had done it.
Within a minute, your baby had been placed on your chest, she was tiny. A soft blanket wrapped around her, keeping her warm before the midwifeâs could take her to clean her up. You had delivered the placenta, and the midwife quickly took your baby off you to go get her clean.
âShe is 3 weeks early Y/N, she's a bit smaller than normal babies, but itâs completely fine and everything is normalâ The nurse spoke, writing her weight down.
âAs long as everythingâs okay with herâ You spoke, still out of breath. The nurse turned to smile at you, before bringing your little baby over to you. You sat with your back against the bed. Your baby pressed against your chest, the nurse aiding you on breastfeeding, which your little girl didnât take long to get a hold of. Erlingâs eyes darted from you, to your baby.
The midwives had left the room after a short while, leaving you both to have a bit of privacy with your baby. Erling had learnt from the nurses that skin to skin contact was essential at the early stages. Once she had left the room, Erling came and sat down on the bed, just by your feet.
âDoes daddy want a cuddle?â You spoke, smiling up at Erling, in which he nodded quickly, removing his shirt, ready to have the first cuddle with his daughter. You lifted your baby up, placing her on Erlingâs chest. You swore you had never seen such a sight, one of Erlingâs hands pretty much covered her whole body. He looked down at her with nothing but adoration for her.
âSheâs perfectâ He whispered, not wanting to startle the tiny baby in his hands. You moved yourself slowly to get out of the bed, letting the nurses know that you were ready to get yourself cleaned up.
Not long after, you had returned to the room after having a short shower, you found Erling still sitting on the edge of the bed, however he had moved the baby so he could cradle her in his arms.
âHave we come up with a name for her?â The nurse behind you asked. Thatâs when it hit you that after an hour or so, you still hadnât come up with it. You had a few ideas in both your heads.
âEsme Haalandâ You spoke, Erlingâs face lighting up with his first choice name, he sent you a wide smile, in which you were quick to return.
âWelcome to the world little Esmeâ The nurse smiled, stepping over to Esme and stroking her cheek, before walking out of the room. Erling stood from the bed, noticing Esme asleep, he carefully put her down in the cot next to your bed. Standing over her for a minute, waiting for her to settle back. You wandered over to his side, the both of you looking down at your gorgeous daughter. Erlingâs arm snaked around your waist, pulling you into his side.
âI love youâ He whispered, tilting his head to look at you. âAnd thank you. Thank you for bringing Esme into this world, I know itâs not been easy at all, but hopefully itâs all worth it nowâ He carried on, leaning down to give you a long kiss.
âSheâs definitely more than worth itâ You smiled into the kiss before looking back down into the cot, Esme relaxing.
âGo and have a sleep love, youâll feel better when you do, Iâll keep my eye on herâ Erling spoke softly, pressing a kiss to your temple, you yawned, walking back over to the bed, getting in slowly, Erling stepped away from the cot, leaving Esme to have a few moments of peace, he sat back down next to your bed, his eyes darting from you, who had fallen to sleep in a matter of minutes, and Esme, who was sleeping soundly. He couldâve slept for a few minutes, but he was happy watching the people who meant the whole world to him.
You had been let home the day after, the hospital checking you out as there were no issues at all. You had gotten Esme into her car seat with no problems, Erling carried her and your hospital bag all the way down to the car, he placed her seat in the back of the car, in which you went in the back too, sitting next to her.
It didnât take long to get home, Erling driving much more carefully than you had ever seen him drive. Esme had wrapped her tiny hand around one of your fingers, your heart bursting with how small she was. Erling looked back at the both of you once he had parked the car, your face filled with the love you had for her. He had never been happier at this moment.
It was only when Erling got out of the car, that you realised you were home. Prying your finger away from her right grip, you slid out of the car as Erling took her out of the car seat, holding her to take her inside the house.
âIâll take her to her roomâ Erling whispered to you once you were both inside the apartment. You thanked him quietly before locking the door behind you. You let out a deep sigh, walking into the living room, placing your bags down onto the floor. The sofa had never looked comfier, the tiredness in your body finally taking over you, however you found yourself walking in the direction of Esmeâs room, stopping at the door frame as you heard Erlingâs voice, a quiet one compared to the usual. The door slightly ajar, you stood next to it, listening in on what he was saying.
âYouâre going to change our lives for the better, Ez, everything I do will be for you and your mama, I love you both so much. Your mum is such an amazing, beautiful woman, Iâll never repay her for bringing you into our world. She means everything to me, and I know sheâs still nervous, but sheâs gonna be the best mama to youâ Slowly opening the door, your heart growing even more at the sight, Erling sat on the chair in the room, Esme cradled in his arms, his head turned at the sound of the door, his eyes softening as he saw you, nodding over for you to come and join him. You stepped over to him, moving one of his arms he pulled you onto his lap, moving Esme so he could hold the both of you. You got yourself comfy, one of your hands around his shoulder, your other hand going to Esmeâs hand. Esme looked up at you with wide eyes, her little chubby face scrunching up as she yawned. âMy girlsâ Erling spoke softly, tilting his head to give you a kiss.
You stayed cuddled up on the chair for a while, until Esme cried, letting you know that she was hungry. Erling stood up, letting you get yourself comfy and ready to breastfeed her. He passed her to you, she instantly started feeding from you, a smile making its way onto Erlingâs face watching you adjusting to the new life of being a mother.
After she had been fed, you changed her, getting her into one of her many baby grows. She began yawning again, before drifting off to sleep, you placed her in the cot, Erling turned the baby monitor on, and the night lamps, you leant down placing a small kiss onto her forehead, before standing back straight and walking out of the bedroom, Erling walked behind you, closing the door softly. You made your own way down to your bedroom, popping the other baby monitor on your bedside table, watching as Esme slept silently. You got yourself up after a minute or so, heading to the bathroom to get yourself changed and ready for bed. You looked at yourself in the mirror, your baby bump, decreased in size but still there, it felt weird, 9 whole months of growing a baby, now she slept soundly in the next room. You felt bad leaving her in a room all by herself, but you knew that any movement or noise, the monitor would detect it, and you knew the times she needed to be fed and changed. There was no need for her to stay in your room. You were snapped out of your thoughts as Erling walked into the bathroom, standing behind you.
âHow you feeling, love?â He asked quietly, his hands sliding around your waist, pulling you against his chest.
âHm, in all honesty, happier than everâ You smiled at him through the mirror. âOf course I'm nervous, but we can do this canât we?â Erling nodded, placing his chin on your shoulder, leaving a small kiss on your jaw.
âOf course we can min kjĂŚre, weâve got this. I tell you what, you have the sleep tonight, you need it, Iâll wake up every few hours and go and see to her, Iâll make her a few bottles up and make sure sheâs okay, donât you worry about it for the next few days. You deserve a long rest darlingâ Erling spoke, you turned in his arms, one of your hands resting on his cheek.
âAre you sure Erling? You donât need to, donât you have training this week?â You asked him, not wanting him to ruin his schedule.
âY/N, donât worry about me at all, Iâve told Pep I wonât be in for the week, Iâd much rather stay at home and look after my girlsâ He replied, making your face flush.
âI love youâ You whispered, leaning in and giving him a long kiss, your lips molding together. Erling deepened the kiss, his tongue battling with your own in a heavy make out session, it wasnât until you let out a moan that you knew that you couldnât go any further with it yet. âSoonâ You smirked at Erling, who gave a devious smile back at you.
âCanât come any quicker, Iâve missed youâ He smirked, and you instantly knew what he meant, you hadnât even gotten close to having sex with each other for 2 months, longing and teasing touches was all you had. You were too exhausted every night to even do anything with him. Erlingâs hands slid lower, landing on the soft flesh of your bum, squeezing your cheeks.
âIâve missed you, so much, but a few more nights wonât kill you Erlingâ You laughed, kissing him again, but pulling away before he had time to react. Pulling away from his grip, Erling groaned as you wandered back into the bedroom, looking around for one of his shirts for you to sleep in. You had gotten changed and climbed into bed, finally getting yourself comfy, relaxing into the soft mattress. Until Esme started crying, you were quick to get yourself out of bed again, however Erling stopped you.
âI told you, Iâve got her.â He spoke. âGet back into bed, Iâll get her back to sleep and Iâll be right back to join youâ You thanked him, before walking back over to the bed, watching on the baby monitor how Erling was so gentle with her, picking her tiny body up in his large arms, holding her close to his bare chest, it wasnât long until she had settled again, Erling placing her back into the cot. You placed the monitor back onto the side, Erling walking back into the bedroom, he got himself changed into a pair of joggers before joining you in bed. He stretched out his arm, silently asking you to come and cuddle with him, you shuffled over to his body, cuddling into his side.
âThank youâ He whispered, looking at you as you completely relaxed.
âHm, for what?â You looked up at him, your eyes drooping with sleep.
âFor bringing Esme into our world, youâre so amazing, if there was anything I could do to repay you for the 9 months of hard work youâve had, Iâd do it in a heartbeatâ He replied, leaning down and pressing a kiss to your forehead.
âI know you wouldâ You spoke truthfully, Erling was the best person throughout your pregnancy, all of the mood swings and the pain of it all, he was there, comforting you, bringing you anything you needed. You could tell he felt bad about you doing all of the work. You never once made him feel bad for getting you pregnant. He was there every appointment and scan, he took every opportunity he could when he scored to dedicate every goal to you, even if it was just a kiss blown up to your box, or a kiss to his marriage finger, even though you werenât married yet, you knew that he was the one for you and vice versa. He was everything and more to you. There was no one that helped you as much throughout your pregnancy, and youâd never be able to thank him enough.
Erling kept his promise, the next few days, when Esme would wake up in the night, he would be up in an instant, helping her get back to sleep. He set his alarm every few hours, getting up and feeding her, changing her nappy and getting her back to sleep. He knew that you needed all the time in the world to rest, and he was more than happy to see his daughter's wide eyes as he spoke softly to her. You and Esme meant the whole world to him, and he was happy with doing everything he could to make sure he was what you and Esme deserved.
