ADB Proposes Major Investment Push for West Bengal’s Industrial Corridors and Tourism Sector
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has proposed a major investment plan to accelerate infrastructure, industrial growth, and tourism development in West Bengal. The proposal includes the creation of two City Economic Regions (CERs) centered around Kolkata and Siliguri, along with new manufacturing, logistics, and agro-processing corridors. Key regions such as Haldia, Durgapur, Darjeeling, Sundarbans, and Digha are expected to benefit from targeted development projects. If implemented, the initiative could boost investment, create jobs, strengthen connectivity, and position West Bengal as a leading economic and tourism hub in eastern India.
