#indricotheres

Hmmm, I didn’t hear anything about any new Paraceratherium( Indricotherium/Baluchiterium are usually regarded as junior synonyms of Paraceratherium) discovered recently, and I couldn’t find any papers about that either.

As far as I know Paraceratherium/Dzungariotherium orgosensisis still the largest indricothere known (though this is mostly estimated based on teeth, which are up to 25% larger than the teeth of P. transouralicum). But P. orgosensis was described in the ‘70s, so this can’t be what you’re referring to.

The most recently discovered indricothere I know of is Urtinotherium yagouense, described in 2004. It was a “small indricothere”, so that’s probably not what you’re asking about?

By the way, small indricothere, apparently, still means “much larger than any other rhinocerotids“*.

But just in case this is what you were asking about: it’s known from skull fragments and teeth, as far as I know, and the genus Urtinotheriumis sometimes seen as a transition between earlier forms, and later Paraceratherium. Unfortunately, I don’t read Chinese, and it seems that’s the language the original description was published in, so I couldn’t read it.

It’s also referred to as Paraceratherium yagouense and Turpanotherium yagouense.
