48 - with a buck saying it 🫶🏾
Hello and thank you for sending in :) This will be the last drabble for today - and also I only have 5 more requests to fill. Please note that while I am still (and always) accepting drabble requests, I'll be taking a few days off once those 5 are done. So if any more are sent in, there will be a small delay in me answering them.
Buck groans. His body hurts. A lot. He wants to go back into the nice dark place where it doesn’t hurt. “Fuck…I feel I’ve been hit by a car.” He grumbles, not expecting a response or there to be anyone there. Except then there’s a choked sound coming from next to him. Forcing his eyes open, Buck squints against the bright light to see Eddie sitting there, looking pale and shaken up. “Eddie?” “You were hit by a car, you idiot!” Eddie hisses, eyes shining with unshed tears. “What?” Eddie doesn’t say anything further though, just shakes his head and presses the call button for the nurse. He looks mad at Buck. Which makes no sense. It isn’t like it’s Buck’s fault that he got hit by a car. He doesn’t think. Everything is a little fuzzy. The last thing Buck really remembers is being out with Eddie. The two had just left a cafe, enjoying a breakfast together, and were going to wander around some shops. Buck wanted to start finding some items for his future niece or nephew. Eddie had been teasing Buck about how Maddie hadn’t even finished her first trimester. The day had been good. Bright. Nice. Buck doesn’t remember the moment everything changed and became tainted. The nurse comes in, asks Buck a bunch of questions, ignores his own questions, rattles off some stuff, and then disappears. Silence settles over the room. Buck shifts in his bed, wincing as it pulls on his aching muscles. “Stop it.” Eddie scolds lightly. “Sorry.” “You don’t need to apologize.” “Well clearly I do since you’re mad at me.” “I’m not mad at you.” “You also won’t look at me or talk to me.” “Because I can’t!” Eddie snaps, gaze stuck downwards on his lap. “Because I can’t handle—” He cuts off, sucking in a breath. “Hey, Eddie…” Buck stretches a hand out, “I’m okay. I’m here.” Brown eyes, shattered and terrified, snap up to look at him, “You were just laying there, Buck. You weren’t…you weren’t moving. You weren’t okay.” “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, but I am okay. I’m here. I’m not…” Buck swallows, “I’m not Shannon, Eddie.” Eddie’s face crumbles. He curls over onto the bed, cradling his head in his arms as he cries. Buck feels tears in his own eyes as he reaches out and strokes his fingers through Eddie’s hair. “I’m sorry, Eddie. I’m here though. I’m okay. I’m not going anywhere.”
