A formally wealthy terran decides to have a first date after overcoming the loss of all her wealth settling into the compact. The two had just finished laughing;

"oh absolutely, i mean its almost as ridiculous as when someone gave me zindafel with my shrimp scampi"

"whats a zindafel?"

"oh its this wine thats really full bodied,

pairs much better with the coq au vin youre having than a light seafood dish"

"aah okay,

yeah i never had wine before"

"wait you never ha-

so you dont know anything about wine?

The stuff made from grapes?"

Its really good, ill get the waiter to get you a glass to pair with your meal youll love it"

"Cool! Should I also be getting some of that shrimp salad you keep talking about?"

the woman puts down her knife and fork and stares at her dish that shes eaten since she was a kid, the waiter comes over

"hi yes, if you can compile a glass of 2455 Caymus Vintage for my friend over here

and yea a bottle of 12 year scotch for me,

"that's your carrier. we're not going anywhere right now"

"yup, still food in that bowl"

"i don't think you should jump up there"

so like, your first character is saffron. i assumed it was kinda like binding of isaac, where your base character doesnt really have a gimmick to get you used to the games external mechanics. it turns out she does, its just not a gimmick about deck construction: she can use her weapon for free

with every other character, it costs mana just like every other spell, so that tells you to treat it just like every other spell, only you dont need to shuffle it back into your deck when youre done. but since saffrons is free, and it is literally a machine gun, theres no reason to stop firing. and also, you should probably focus on being in front of the enemies, right? its like touhou, where youve gotta just make sure youre under the boss and stuff.

the problem is, the enemies move around way more than touhou, and the game is way more strict on how you move yourself. youve gotta put so much effort into dodging. when you also keep in mind casting spells, it gets really hectic, but not unmanageable - unless, on top of all this, youre also trying to use a machine gun. i was taking like 200 damage (your max hp is 1200) per fight
