I am working on a project about The Murals at the Uptown Post Office in Chicago, IL.  There is an interesting set of paintings by Henry Varnum Poor on the walls of this post office.  They were done in 1943 as part of the WPA or an extension of that program for artists.  One of the Murals features Carl Sandburg.  Note Carl on the right with his guitar.  He actually collected a bunch of songs and played guitar as well as wrote poetry.

The other Mural features Louis Sullivan, a renowned architect who is known for many famous buildings in Chicago and across the country.

The Murals were painted on Ceramic tiles and then attached to the wall.  There is some wear and tear on them, and the lighting is atrocious.  Most of the workers and the customers I interviewed there, knew nothing about them.
