I know that we're all sad about Twice in this chapter and all, but as a Hawks fan, I remember just being so fascinated by this bird boy. A hero that kills. Like. He's only 22 and so young and so competent and under the commission's thumb. He can be cold and detached but theres still something there that did attempt to reach out to Twice, but he did it in such a pragmatic fashion with only a hint of resignation. There's just something I find compelling with pragmatic characters who are NOT heartless monsters still making coldhearted decisions with at least some self-awareness, esp with someone who's an adult but still pretty young?
Sorry for gushing about Hawks when hes a bit in everyones shitlist at this point of time, but dammit that chapter was just so good???
No no, you're right on that, it is fascinating. It doesn't change the fact that I'm horrified that my favorite character is about to bit the feather, but Hawks really was put against the wall there. He either kills Twice or the villains will win, there's no other end.
It's a tragedy, those two were pawns of the universe, pitted against each other. Twice trying and failing every time he trusted someone, and Hawks being forced to betray and use people for the greater good. I don't hate him, although I am angry, but not exactly at him. I'm angry that the circumstances pushed them to this. I'm angry because the story intended me to be angry at the world, and alas, it did a good job at that.
