Genuinely didn't list my audiobooks on Findaway Voices through Spotify because I've hated Spotify for years.
Findaway becomes InAudio and now my shit is on Spotify anyway? And I have to make a Spotify account to deactivate them? Only to deactivate them, I need to agree to Spotify's TOS and distribution agreement????
What in the fuck.
I was trying to calm down today but now I'm pissed. I'm pissed at InAudio, because this is shit and shouldn't have happened, and I should be able to opt out of distribution to Spotify through them!
And I am pissed at Spotify, because this is shady af and they know it.
And my recourse is, if I get mad enough, to pull my books from InAudio altogether. Except that leaves me with basically Amazon as a distributor, the thing I was trying to avoid by using Findaway/InAudio.
But why on earth would I give a share of the tiny bit I make to InAudio if this is how they treat indie authors?
Idk if they get a kickback from Spotify to handle it like this, but Spotify doesn't even really pay royalities for audiobooks so authors are not getting much/anything out of this. If it's a matter of "exposure" they could get that through Audible.
Spotify is the fucking devil. I hate it so much.
