Only having this absolute fire character design in 2 episodes is a major injustice (yes, I’m over 20 years late to this train, shh). There’s various talking points I could yap on about the overall character designs and choices made in this iteration of Batman as a whole, but that’s a lot to unpack, SO let’s just chop it up to a small and quick appreciation post.

The animators captured Scarecrow’s psychologically disturbing nature in this design perfectly! Not to say that the other animated versions were inferior; they are definitely “Scarecrow,” but I the fear elements here are amped by the darker palette, incorporation of the noose, and by making the sack over his head more comparable to dead-flesh. I couldn’t help but do a redraw of the frame where he stepped out of the shadows: this is one character redesign that absolutely did not disappoint (and again, deserves way more than 2 episodes, honestly DC-)
