My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 8 years. We’re huge nerds. We play D&D and other ttrpgs like it. He’s usually our primary DM, with very few exceptions.

We have a game, that we have been playing for five years, where my character is married to an NPC that is universally recognized as “his” character. They have a baby, and she’s pregnant.

We have a game where my character is a powerful psychic who is in a relationship with another superhero NPC universally recognized as “his” character.

We have a game where my Power Ranger is dating an NPC Ranger that Boyfriend made to love her.

We have a game (that a friend is running) where my wizard and his warlock banter and bicker and everyone but them knows they’re in love.

In a game I ran for two years that ended a while ago, his demon hunting psychic detective fell in love with the demon woman who was “my” NPC. He died to save her and their unborn child (and the world.)

We have a game we played six years ago and we still talk about the love my character and her pizza-shop-owner-superhero boyfriend had.

We have a game where my character just met an NPC who smirks and calls her “Doc” and they don’t even know they’re going to fall in love yet, but we know.

And sometimes we talk in character to each other and create these little non-canon moments where they’re just being silly and ridiculous and cute, and sometimes these conversations happen between characters who don’t even exist on paper yet.
