My graduation weekend was full of love and celebration. ๐๐๐ Thank you to my one and only for making it AH-MAZING for me and just all around making it happen!!!! I love and appreciate you SO MUCH baby! I live painted at Cesar Chavez Friday night concerts in the park for the first time, we had the most lovely party complete with rainbow cake ๐๐, we went to San Francisco and the mountains. And we ate so much yummy food. Aella crouched like a lion in waiting. Never mind the shine of her hair giving her away, or the way she shuffled in place making enough subtle noise to alert her father. Her sneaking had gotten better because he hadn't yet alerted. It was when he sat down with his back facing her position that she took her chance, her grin wide and bursting with excitement as she stumbled out of hiding. "I GOT YOU!" she declared before she even truly 'got' him, arms wrapped around her father's shoulders as if she were the one who trapped him and not the other way around when he held over her arms. Though neither of them saw Enya coming. He sprung from the shadows and latched onto their father's side in a crashing hug โ it was a rough embrace, and he rubbed his face affectionately to his father's cheek before he sprung back, too quick to catch. "Both got you." he added, his smile proud.
How should he ever have expected to end up so lucky?
The sun was warm on his skin, the fish caught plenty and the waves rolled softly over the golden sand. And little feet tried to be sneaky. Enok had noticed the rustling long ago, but he let Aella have her fun. He prayed every night that their children would never really need the sharpened senses Ariadne and he possessed.
So he just laughed when their daughter 'caught' him - their son's catch was way more of a startle. Making Enok exhale a breath, before he tried grabbing him. No luck, though. Instead he scooped up Aella and then, with two big jumps, he had caught up to Enya, grabbing the second twin, too. Laughing alongside the children's giggles, Enok threw them over his shoulders, twirling on the spot.
"What? Since when have you gotten so good, my little hunters?"
The squealing gave no definite answer, but that wasn't important anyway. What was important was that they were happy. Safe. Protected. And together.
There was more rustling in the undergrowth. And with another turn, Enok could see Ariadne approaching from the small path leading from their home to this beach. She was followed by two smaller ones - Xeha and Alecto, their steps still a little clumsy and very hectic. Sometimes grabbing for their mother's white skirt, golden and blue eyes wide in wondering what was making their older siblings laugh so much.
And Ariadne? Gods. Ariadne was... everything.
Enok would never be able to help it. Lowering the twins down gently, so they could run to Ariadne and tell her about their newest feat against their father - he couldn't take his eyes off of her. And he couldn't help the soft smile playing around his lips.
They were indeed lucky. So, so much.
And it could go on like this forever.
