ONCE AGAIN IN THE BACK SEAT WITH KAI, HARI idly glances out the window at passing traffic as they’re chauffeured back to the prefecture, his hands gently clasped in his lap.
“... You really should be more careful with the way you word things, Kai.” He murmurs softly, sapphire eyes glancing to the side, towards Overhaul. “I wouldn’t call openly starting fights a good business strategy.”
“If we demonstrate power too often, others may start to wonder if we’re compensating for something-- and even if we are stronger than them, there’s no point in getting sloppy with our work...”
“... I know you can handle yourself, but that doesn’t mean you always have to, does it...?”

Brawls weren’t uncommon in his life, but it was rare for someone to pick a fight in a place like this. The bar was notorious amongst petty thugs and wanted criminals alike - a meeting point that was currently occupied by some wannabe gangsters. They’d staked their claim here a few weeks back, and nobody had challenged them on it. Nothing had changed much, just that the place was closed on Mondays.
Honestly, Dabi wondered how the owner could stand being told how to run his pub. Then again, it was none of his business. The people in here knew to leave him alone; to only speak to him when there was something in it for him.
When the little upstart - Kai, he’d called himself - had started trash talking the group of criminals, he’d expected to see him put on his ass like a child. Instead he’d made a man explode just by touching him, and all hell had broken loose.
The fight itself didn’t last long, because Kai was stronger than the goons and anyone with common sense fled the bar, but Dabi remained. Drink in hand, cold gaze trained on Kai with open interest.
He was winning, his quirk ridiculously overpowered. They didn’t really stand a chance, did they? How delightfully merciless, how- oh, did that man have a gun?
Almost without thinking, Dabi’s arm shot out. Bright blue fire erupted from his palm, engulfing the gunman and burning him to a crisp. No way was he going to let them shoot the new guy, not when he looked so fun.

“I don’t imagine it’s a quick process for cleansing, though I suppose so long as you’re holding the upkeep it’s of little concern. The thought merely crossed my mind comparatively to my own. The look suits you regardless.”
“Not as long as one may assume, but the trouble lies more in keeping it untangled.” As if she had only now become aware of it, she combed a curious hand through her hair, becoming terribly aware that she was actually due for a haircut. “It’s fun to style it, though, when it cooperates, and I think that’s what makes it worth it. I hope you don’t mind me saying that it is an amusing image to think of you with longer hair, sir.”
