indefinite hiatus

Disappears for nearly a year, appears only to say Happy Birthday to the Best Girl.

I’m not going to say I’m abandoning this blog, but I will say that as of late I’ve more or less loss interest in writing in the BNHA setting so for the foreseeable future I don’t think I’m going to be on this blog. Thank you all for being here and putting up with my shenanigans, it’s been fun. Hopefully I’ll find the muse to return to this setting again because there’s still so much I want to do with this character I’ve established, but. Until then.

Sorry? For what? It was as if he had missed a step, somehow. Like listening to someone else talking on the phone; missing the other half of the conversation. Only, in this case, words remained unspoken rather than simply unheard.

“You don’t have anything to be sorry for” He replies, instead of pressing the issue further. Something about her tremulous manner, the quietness of her voice, the look of guilt on her face; gives the impression of a cornered prey animal. One wrong move and she may bolt.

“Hmmm,” this is the exact thing they ought not discuss, that he very purposely didn’t bring up. Discussing his own history might worsen Yaoyorozu’s burden. Already the teen seemed to carry the weight of the world on her shoulder (an alternate, more gruesome meaning to ‘everything hero’) adding his own would do nothing to alleviate that.

“I…don’t think it really matters. Everyone’s different, you know?” A vague, somewhat generic, although true sentiment.

“There’s a lot of things i’m not sure about.” whether or not he truly belongs here, among the next generation of heroes, whether or not he can actually make it. The very real chance that he may fail utterly; as everyone has predicted he would. 

“And, it’s really hard not to think about them. I think everyone’s that way, at least some of the time.”

“Even the pros…they can’t save everyone, they make mistakes. It’s all part of the job. If they got caught up in who they can’t help, they wouldn’t be able to help anyone. So it’s kind of like that. It’s just…doing what needs to be done. Even if you’re afraid.”

She had to bite her cheek to prevent herself from apologizing again, and forced herself to listen to the other’s words. His answers were vague, but she supposed she couldn’t expect anything more out of him given the circumstances. The truth was, there had been a part of her that had hoped he would go into more detail, give her something else to focus on, someone else’s problem to fix so that she could continue ignoring her own. 

Was it a healthy way of dealing with it? Probably not, but she supposed there wasn’t much about her current lifestyle that could be considered healthy, and even still: words of Izuku’s did make it through to her.

It’s just doing what needs to be done, even if you’re afraid. 

They rung familiar to her, and that repetition did bring a new degree of clarity to her condition and made it a little easier to breathe. She wasn’t sure how yet to apply it, but... she supposed she was in no condition to take anything other than step-by-step right now. She rubbed carefully at her eye to rid the threat of tears, cautious not to disturb the eyeliner that was already in a precarious status, and tried to take a deep breath.

"What motivates you, then? Beyond just, ‘doing what needs to be done’, because I can’t imagine that someone works as hard as you do for purely pragmatic reasons, when I have no doubt the world’s told you plenty of times that there are people better equipped for the job than you.” Was that rude? She hoped she wasn’t being rude. 

“Don’t get me wrong, it’s admirable. When I think of this school, you’re the one that I can’t imagine would be anywhere else but here. I don’t know how much stock I put into the concept of fate, because I feel like it devalues our pain and hard work, but...  if I were to believe in it for anyone, I would believe it for you.”
