Very annoying error, this affects our project properties by disabling one of the profiles.
This is a fix for an error that occurs in Corel Video Studio – VS 7 and up – in which clicking on the tab to share video that contains all the rendering profiles returns the inability to access any of those profiles except for a select few. If you’re familiar with the software, you might have seen this error, but if not, this will help you with a couple of things you do need to know, namely, backing up libraries and soft resetting the software.
The link is provided for background, but it’s possible you don’t have to go through the above procedure to access those rendering profiles.
Here is what I have discovered in encountering the error myself: I believe it is related to the Lame MP3 codec, which later versions of Corel Video Studio does not support. I think the rendering profiles can become disabled by attempting to work with uncompressed video with a compressed audio stream (the MP3 codec is the one that has come up as the most likely culprit in my experiments).
In order to fix this, you can strip the audio from the video, by whatever means you have available. The next time you load the clip into Corel Video Studio you should see all the rendering profiles and the error should not reoccur. This has worked for me, but as with all errors, this is probably just one possible solution.
My procedure involves using VirtualDubMod to load the clip and then clicking on Streams > Stream list > (the listed audio stream) > Disable. Then I render a direct stream copy of the video, which is done by clicking on the Video tab, selecting ‘Direct stream copy’ and then clicking on File > Save as > (new file name).
